Do they? What about ponytail holders and various clips?

I can not go comfortably for one day with updo's/ponytails etc because they make my head so sore :perplexed It's been this way for me forever so i doubt I will be able to change it now....Anyone else dealing/dealt with this?

Only in the center of my head is where I feel the most pain...anywhere else it doesn't really bother me...

They are horrible!!! I used to wear weave pony tails all the time, but they left ufly ad painful scars all up in my head, so I just had to stop. It helps if you don't let them press in yoru scalp and if you move them around each day.

it depends on how the pins are put in. i use pins at night to pin curl my hair and its not a problem. if someone puts them in too tight with lots of tension, it hurts like heck.

Girl, yes! Bobby pins hurt my head so bad. But I have no clue how to use them, so I figure they hurt cause I don't know what I'm doing :ohwell:

The middle of my head can't stand bobby pins...of any kind! I can use them as long as they don't touch the middle of my scalp, that area gets really sore. No matter how careful I place the pins:sad::nono:

Most bobby pins do! But there are some bobby pins that have space in between each one so that they are not very tight on your scalp. Those don't hurt as bad.

i experience this problem with bobbypins too but i found a way to use them that lessens bobby pain.

i insert the bobby without putting too much tension on the hair when i apply them. my problem was pulling the hair (usually too much hair) where i wanted and using the bobby like a c-clamp.........wrong.

i use the bobby pin on the top layer of hair (or deeper inside the mass) only to keep the hair from coming out position not as a way to physically hold the hair in position. i also do not insert the bobby all the way to the bend of the pin nor apply it too close to the hair roots. if one bobbypin won't cut it then i'll use another one and put it in a slightly different position.

the difference is a fine line and really hard to explain so i'm gonna shut up now.

This is EXACTLY how I use bobby pins  I try to hold a gang of hair in 1 pin :nono: I need to stop being so lazy

I have had this problem my whole life and it sucks. I have learned through trial and error which products work best for me and my tenderheaded self:blush:. For starters I try and use as few bobby pins as possible if I'm doing an updo. I try not to do a ponytail b/c they're just the :heated: if you have to I would recomend doing it as loose as possible. Avoid headbands that are too tight or that apply too much pressure to your temples also.

HTH.

Funny I came across THIS thread. I have my braids up in a bun and all of a sudden this good day hairpin is stabbing me. I started fighting with it. Found that bad boy and was rolling my eyes and let out a big sigh. My co-worker was like, "Are you having orgasims over there or what?!"

Talk about relief!

However, other then today's incident...No. :spinning:

The only time they make my head hurt is after a touch up. I think all of the washing my stylist does makes my head extra sensitive to the bobby pins. When I take my wrap down the next day, my head hurts like hell.

Depending on where they rest on my scalp, I actually get headaches/migraines until I remove them or find another way to place them. So usually I just don't use them.

same here.

But I do use some barrette clips on the sides if I put my hair up during the day and they can hurt depending on how I place them.

I also have had this problem. It did come from trying to hide bobby pins by pushing them all the way in and from using too many.

If I put them in too tight, yes they hurt. I would make a bun out of nothing but bobby pins. Then I wonder why my ends were constantly thinning out. No more bobby pins or see through ends.
