I use it and I've seen results! The Hot Gro is a staple in my MN mix. I use it with some oils and BB Lite Super Gro Grease so it's not that strong.. The smell keeps the boys away!!:lachen:

Dr Miracles is a big no no for me, it caused an absolute horror story in my hair.

I went on holiday to NY last April and first stop was the BSS where I bought almost everything in the line. Anyway I was flinging it on my head without a care in the world and about two weeks later I noticed my scalp was sore and weeping.

Stupid me thought that Dr miracles would cure this so I continued to use it making the problem worse. It wasn't until my poor scalp was flaking cornflake sized pieces of dandruff and bleeding and oozing pus that I made the connection that maybe the Dr Miracles was causing it. I stopped using it rightaway and the symptoms cleared up so fast but my scalp is still very dry.

I'm not the only person this has happened to, I've seen posts on BHM discussing the exact same symptoms. I'm probably allergic to one of the ingredients but some people do rave about it.

yea i didn't have a horror story either. it worked pretty good for me

I used their braid spray and temple and nape balm. I like the tingling scalp of the braid spray. I don't really know if the temple and nape balm worked, but I felt like it kept my hairline from running for the border.

I do think there are some better alternatives out there. This board is has tons of stuff that can produce similar results. For instance if you want the tingling scalp, try peppermint oil. That definitely helps.

where can i buy pepermint oil

I like the creme---It doesnt have mineral oil or petroleum i dont think and tingles the scalp really good.

If you go to search, and type in "growth aids" you will see alot of alternatives that people use/tryed for faster hair growth

Boundless Tresseses
Sulfur 8
MTG
Frenchees
Lenzi's request
Miconazole Nitrate
Glovers Mane

Well I guess I'm the minority here in terms of this product line. I love it. I use the hot grow grease in my hair and they have a tingle-less one for the kids that I use on my daughter. I can take the black liquorice smell. My hair grows pretty okay anyway but with this I got an extra boost. I'm finding that my new growth is coming in sooner than it was before and the grease actually makes my "hair" really soft, and not greasy. I'm braided up right now so I'm using their braid spray. I tried the shampoo this weekend. So far, I haven't had any problems w/their product line at all and will more than likely continue using it since they sell the whole line at my local bss.

I was in the $$$ store the other day and saw what I thought was Dr Miracle and bought it. It was only $5. I've seen it priced higher. But when I got home and tried to read about it here, I could not find it by using the search function. Then I realized what I bought was Dr Wonder not Dr Miracle!!!:nono:
I've only used it twice, it does make my scalp tingle and it does smell sort of weird :look:....but so far so good.

I really didn't mind the smell. But, I used it when I had braids and a sew-in. It worked for me, I had good growth, but I also took biotin, messaged my scalp, left my hair alone, yaddy, yaddy, yadda. So, whose to say what it really was!

I myself received many emails about Dr. Miracle's products, so when an opportunity arose to try the line, I said yes. But, after doing some research I was seriously contemplating putting them back. One reviewer said the product had her friend in the hospital!
Nonetheless, because I love my readers oh, so very much, I went ahead last Thursday and do what it do. After I washed my hair I applied the Treatment to my hair and used heat for about 25 minutes. After I rinsed it out and rolled my hair, I used the Relaxed Hair Potion and Anti-breakage strengthener.
I won't go into too many details bashing this line, but I'm going to give some constructive criticism and solutions. I think it has potential. But, there's some big problems with it that NEED changing.

  • Petroleum and Mineral oil. I know that moisture is the key to relaxed hair growth and I find it so hard to believe that a line geared towards black women reaching longer lengths would put the two ingredients that strip moisture the most. Black women are getting so savvy when it comes to hair. Recently, Hype Hair started suggesting the co-washing method. Ayurveda is the latest trend in hair care, and I wouldn't be surprised if black women were not the driving force behind American cosmetics new merger. With all this growth and interest in black women's hair care, why not put more effort in your line? At risk of sounding rude, stop being cheap and use organic butters as bases for your products instead of grease.
  • "Feel-It" Formula? Seriously?
Menthol does not count as something that can grow hair. If that was the case, we'd all schlab some Vix Vapor rub all up on our heads. The smell made my head hurt so much I immediately had to was them out.
  • The Cost. $8.99 is only a few dollars less than what I pay for many organic products, and this stuff cost more than the startups created by other hair enthusiasts. And their products have been proven to grow hair! For that kind of money, you can honestly afford to take the Petroleum bi-products out.
  • The moisturizers made my hair very sticky and hard and a deep conditioner needs to be as organic as possible.
  • A "2-in-1" Shampoo? Uh... yeah. I've heard nothing but negative things about shampoo and conditioner in one package because they clean hair and then redeposit right back unto the scalp.
I don't want anyone to think I am discouraging them from using Dr. Miracle's because there were some people who say growth with the products. Some women swear by the entire line and will hold firmly that it works. I've heard many positive feedback from the actual growth and scalp products. I've also heard many people fall in love with the tingling shampoo and the dandruff stuff really did stop their itchies. But, for me, I'm Audi 5000 with the line for the reasons stated above.

P.S. I find the commericals hailarious, but many black women find them offensive. Honestly, I think those women have been drining too much of the Kool-Aid, but it might be time for a change.

I honestly believe that it's the same formula/same product.:perplexed It's too much of coincidence that the box and the labels are the same color. The grow oil bottles are the same and the formula pretty much smell the same. The only difference I notice is the price and name. Usually when two companies have the same product with so many similiarities, one company usually sues the other. I haven't heard anything about a lawsuit.Or, the economical brand is usually labeled "Not manufactured or distributed by the makers of ..." Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the company address the same too? If so, why are so many people paying a few $$$ more for the exact same product with a different name?

I'll get off my soap box now...

I've used the Healing oil once and that was my last time. First off it smells like cloves. I tried mixing it with other oils to cover up the smell but that didn't work at all. The oil was way to heavy for my hair so I applied it to my scalp. The next day I was feeling very nauseous(I think this happens when I apply anything to my scalp). So now it's sitting on my shelf because I refuse to use it ever again.

Dr. Miracles will probably change their formula. They were the ones who sent me the products so I could review it for my blog. They said they appreciated the review and it was real. So, look out for a new formula.

i laughed at the 'feel it' formula as well. I have the braid spray, and while i do feel tinglies, i know its just the menthol... doesn't mean that it actually works
