so who does the bc??you or stylist etc??????????????????

hi im wondering if i should start trimming off inches in between braids or should someone else. i mean i dont want them to cut off my natural hair too and should this be cut wet or dry

when I did my BC I cut it all off but I think you can successfully cut your relaxed inches yourself. I would cut it wet or airdried so you can more easily see where you natural hair ends and relaxed hair begins

i was thinking wet as well. blow drying would be out of the ? as well as flat ironing it

i started chopping a few months before i actually went for the Big 'un.

first to go was my nape it was rough so most of that went very early on, next was where my old bangs used to be back in the day and then big ole trims to the back until finally, at the end of May, i sought out the remaining ends.

i did it on wet hair, loaded with conditioner. my hair was underprocessed so the line of demarcation was a whole lot easier to see with the conditioner on it.

it didn't seem like such a horribly shocking experience because 1) i did lots of big mini's along the way and 2) i did my own hair. i had complete and total control over the entire experience.

i did my own bc on dry hair. my relaxed ends were so damaged and thin, it was easy to see the difference between the two textures. i had my hair in micros and they had slid down a bit revealing the ng and some of the relaxed hair. i didn't even bother to take off most of my braids, i just cut them off because i could see the when my ng ended and relaxed hair began.

When I first went natural, my hair was bsl and I had it cut to a shoulder or chin length bob (can't remember) by a professional. From there I would gradually cut off the relaxed hair myself. When I had a bc in 2001 to cut off my color, I had it professionally done because I went super short and I wanted it to be even. Q

wow thanks for all the help havent had a relaxer since not im n braids not though i think i am going to cut it all off in three sessions, 3 inches here 2 there and then the final touches man i wish i didnt have a relaxer in nov

I did my own as well. Just make sure to get HAIR scissors. I did it on wet hair as well and just snipped at all the straight parts. I have a few pics in my album of me cutting.

Another do it yourselfer here. I didn't plan to chop when I did it so it was done on dry hair. I tackled the remaining ends that escaped the first chop after I washed my hair...it was wet that time.
