O.K. yall, I stretched for 13 weeks. Something I've never done in my LIFE! But something weird happened while I was stretching.

I starting developing an attraction to the new growth. I was really confused as to whether or not i should relax.

I put it off but I ended up doing it anyway.

...And now I'm sad

My hair feels dead to me and it feels very boring. Today it was blowing in the wind and just bothering the mess out of me. I miss my NG :perplexed

I never thought I'd have the guts to transition but I'm really feelin' it right about now.

Thanks for reading my mini-rant.

I'm about 9 weeks post and I love playing in my new growth! I'm also thinking about transitioning...maybe you should get back to it

I really do want to. I just feel like I lost 3 months of time, you know?

I've really been convinced to transition b/c I've never had a problem with hairline thickness, but after the last two relaxers, my widows peak area is thinning out and that has NEVER happened before.

It kind of shook me up, and I want to do something about it.

First I thought I might have ripped the hairs out from brushing, but I don't know. I had to sit through some pretty fierce hair brushings (and hot combings) as a child and never had a problem with a thin hairline.

Do you have pics of your NG? I'd like to see it.

Im a living see-saw ( and a bit impulsive)

I transition.... get frustrated for a few days..... get a perm/texlax.... have regrets within 72 hours.... lather, rinse, repeat for the last 4 years

I think my happy medium maybe 16 week stretches... get a taste of both worlds

I feel you girl...after a 15 wk stretch, I'm missing the fullness.

It'll be back soon though, with even more hair to blow in the wind. :wink2:

LOL know how you feel girl! I'm currently 2 months post and loving the feel of my coils near my scalp --- especially the ones right smack dead in the middle of my head. Very soft and manageable. The longer I'm here, the more I learn how to handle the two textures and find out what works for me. For the first time I'm really planning on going on a 4 month stretch... I finally feel confident to be able to get along quite well with the NG :-)

Don't feel bad, those lovely coils will start showing again for you, VERY soon... You know how they like to sneak up on a chick!

Thank you all for your lovely and confirming comments. I was beginning to feel like a weirdo :lachen:

It has been like a see saw for me, but lately the scales have been tipping more towards the natural end.

I was on this whole get to APL goal and I'm super close, but I'm just gonna get my hair trimmed an inch or two and let the weeks roll on. I'll just relax again when I feel ready, and if that day never comes then I might just end up being natural!

Random, I know. But really the most sense I can make out of the situation at this point.

Hey Foxie, your post about the Sebastian Potion #9 helped add to my confusion. Your shine was blinding and your hair looked so silky, smooth and straight. Good job

Someone's getting the itch...that's how it starts :lachen::lachen:

Mine started when I saw this girl, she was about 14, get on the bus w/ the biggest puff I have ever seen...

Next thing ya know, I'm transitioning:spinning:

lol! yeah I got the itch allright. Usually when I first relax I be the happiest person around. Not this time though!

I'm just like, I barely wear my relaxed hair down, I always put it in a ponytail. I could be putting my natural hair in cute ponytails and wearing twistouts.

When I want a dramatic look, I have no problem buying a midbacklength fall or a wig (I love the fact that i get to take it off at night). So what's the big deal about it being relaxed?

Trust me, I understand how you feel. My last relaxer was the worst one I ever had. My scalp felt fine the first day, but as the week progressed it started to itch and if felt like it was on fire. I had never experienced anything like that before. That made me seriously consider going natural. I'm very curious to see what my natural hair looks like. I know that I'm 4a, but I have always wondered if I had curls.

Yesterday, I asked my mother what my hair looked like before I got a relaxer and she said "It looked like a big afro. It was terrible." That made me feel bad because that's basically saying that she thinks my hair is ugly. :nono: I don't think my hair is ugly, I just think that people didn't know how to handle it properly. Anyway, let me know if you decide to transition. We could be transition buddies.

It was YOUR puff and videos that finally pulled me off the relaxer bandwagon forever! I was watching your fingercoil video and I was like....I need that hair! It was the beginning of the end for me. I haven't relaxed since last November and I can't wait to start some natural styles just waiting for my 1 year mark before I BC!

im currently going on 12 weeks. I have twists on and every day I take out a twist so I can play with my NG. Last time Is stretched I almost decided to transition I went 6 months. I love my NG.

You know, your momz was probably trying to always straighten your hair like my momz was. She might just be remembering how resistant it was to straightening.

My mom was surprised when I told her I had little coils. It was like she didn't know, lol!

I'd love to be your transition buddy. I'll know more within the next couple of months about me definitely going through with this (but right now it really feels like I will).

I effin' HATE you!
j/k.:grin:I just got a touch-up today and I don't like it either. My BFF got here's yesterday and she doesn't like it either. I started a thread on whether anyone else felt the same way I did about relaxed hair but only got two responses. You should have responded and then we could have supported each other to go natural.:cry3:I don't think you're the only one going through touch-up shock.

As soon as I read the beginning of your post I started laughing. I don't remember coming across your thread, but your support is here now!

Next time man, next time! All the way... we're going AAAAALLL the way.... and big chopping!

I wonder if you can transition with the brazilian keratin Treatment?

Do it girl! Experimenting is a great thing. If you don't like it, just relax it. If you do like it, keep transitioning without the chop. There are so many possibilities. :) :)

I went and peeked at your fotki micarae. Very awesome! It looks like you've done a lot of experimenting so you're definitely giving out advice that you've taken. I like that!

PS Your blown out hair and natural hair are beautiful! I love the fact that you weren't afraid to take off some inches and just see what happens. After all, it's just hair right?

Girl...I feel your pain! I just completed a 13 week stretch and I'm already wearing a wig to cover up the massacre caused by texlaxing on Saturday. The funny part is, before LHCF, I was slapping a perm in every 5 weeks! It's amazing what happens when we sistas embrace our true beauty.

I made it 8 months without chemicals then had a meltdown and relaxed again. I am leaning towards going natural just to thicken up my thin, fine strands. I would say start CO washing to try to get your texture back. It should look/feel better in a couple of weeks.

As for me...I'm doing a 6 month stretch this time. Who knows? I may take the leap and go natural.

I just got out the shower from cowashing yesterday's rollerset out my hair, lol! 6 months, that's great! I'm sure you'll do better this time since you're more experienced in stretching. Good luck :yep:
