This is kinda a vent....

I rollerset my hair using water mixed with a little Sweet Almond Oil and I put some Chi Silk Infusium in each section.

So when I went to flat iron my hair ended up all brittle on the ends and it broke off a lot too:sad: WTH, last time my hair was good to go. I'm wondering what I did wrong. I would have been better off using the blowdryer. I feel like my hair will never succeed. It looks like crap.

What did you wash and condition with? How about trying a nice moisturizing leave in and then the chi silk infusion? Also,I would skip out on the oil and see how that works.Switch it and see what combo works best.

I'm growing to be a bit suspecious about Chi silk infusion. After the last time I flat ironed my hair using way too much Chi my hair broke off like crazy. I am transitioning 7 monts now...i have a feeling that my hair got too dry or blocked moisture due to the chi...and broke off at the demarcation line.... I'm new to hair but I'm thinking of keeping a close eye on chi...or too much of chi....

What type shampoo. I'm a natural that rollersets. My stylist uses a shampoo that strips my hair and she never recommends a deep conditioner. I now wash and condition at home.....rollerset and dry too!

Really? Maybe next time I'll pass on the Chi. Yeah, I feel that it blocks out ALOT of the moisture. I'm thinking that maybe the way I set my hair made the ends dry too. It's like they dried in the rollers already tangled. :ohwell:

I used some kind of minty shampoo that I got from Sallys followed by Pantene R&N. It has never failed me before.

It seems as though the products you used may have turned on you.

For next time - maybe try a caramel treatment pre poo..... - to infuse moisture in your starnds - and then do your rollerset.

I like the chi silk infusion - but - I am not sure if it has alcohol - that may be the problem too...
Good luck.

I did a coconut milk & oil prepoo...you think the caramel treatment would be better?

I think it's the serum. I did a rollerset last week with nothing but a liquid leave-in and straightening serum. When it dried, my hair looked dull and my roots are cracklin dry. Nothing I put on it was been able to keep my strands moisturized.

I would skip the serum or mix dilute it with water next time.

ETA: My gut is telling me that the silk infusion doesn't mix to well with oil. (I think I might have to do a little experiment)

Me too. The last two times I did my hair, I didn't use Chi silk infusion, but Fantasia IC Olive Oil Serum and my hair was awesome! When I used the Chi silk, my hair didn't come out the way I wanted it too, so....I think you are sooooo right about this.

OP, try not using the Chi next time and see the difference. If its still breaking, then we can safely say its something else.

In rollersetting, I believe the less products the better. I don't use a setting foam now....only my Giovanni Direct Leave-In and I'm getting much beter results. No dullness, No crinkling!

coconut milk is nice too - But I do think that Caramel does what everyon claims in terms of moisture.

honey is a large part of the recipe - a natural humectant.......

CHI seems to block out moisture. So I would nix that if I were you. Maybe use another serum and definitely use a small amount.
