I used my dryer the other night and love, love love it! I have the red walmart version; i bought from the store, not online. It took about an hoir for my hair to dry. No frizz and I'm about 10 weeks post. I didn't find that it got too hot. The hose is very sturdy, not flimsy like the Carel.

I have the same one and tried to use it for the FIRST time last week and it keeps shutting off by itself after 5 minutes of use. I guess I got a defective one and I will have to return it.

I ordered the same dryer MizzBrown is referring to earlier this week from Walmart.com.
I've never used this type of dryer but I'm hoping it will work well.

I have the gold Select Pro dryer and I love it. I don't think I could live w/o it. I'm thinking of getting this one too because it's slightly different than the one I have.

I bought a Conair Soft Bonnet Dryer Attachment from Sally's this week for $9.99. It's the plastic bonnet and hose that attaches to your hand held blow dryer. It's perfect for me because I'm on the road a lot and I don't need anything that takes up a lot of space in my truck.

Make sure the dryer is upright and the cover is up, not closed. If you do all that and it still shuts off I would definately return it. :nono:

I love my Gold n Hot and that baby can get hot for real. I haven't been using it lately since I got my TWA going on but I think I'll pull it back out for my DC's I like the fact that I can watch TV or work on the computer with it on! LOL

Hmm. Thanks. I will try that! I think I had the cover down on the hose. Did you experience your dryer shutting off and found that the above tactics worked?

My Ion spaceman soft bonnet just shut down on me, and I just replaced it with a Carel dryer, but after reading these reviews, it's going right back to Sally's. I'm mad because I went to WalMart right after Sally's but I didn't look for a soft bonnet because I had just bought one.

Why did they have to stop making this:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:. I LOVE this dryer. I am so sorry yours gave out- if mine does I really don't know what I am going to do.

I just got the Gold and Hot. I HATE it. First, could the hose be any shorter? I practically have to have the dang on box in my lap for the bonnet to reach my head. And secondly, me trying to do a flexi-rod set with it looked like this:

:lachen: Just sitting on top of my rollers! What a waste of money! I don't have the regular rollers y'all using for rollersets that you clip with those metal prongs. Maybe one day if I get some of those I'll try again.

Its so funny for me to see this thread. I'm sitting under a Gold N Hot ionic soft bonnet dryer (the space helmet kind).

I got a few months ago and this is the first time I'm using it. After about 40 minutes, it suddenly stopped working. I had switched the temperature from low to high and the unit completely shut down :nono:. I was horrified to say the least.

I put in the box, and after doing an online search for replacements, I decided to try again and it worked. I can tell it would be a good dryer if it was consistent, but I'm not happy this happnened ON MY VERY FIRST TRY using it.

Has anyone with this ever ran into a similar problem?

I bought the Gold n Hot soft bonnet that I attach to my red blow dryer and it works just as good as the hooded dryer that I gave away to my Mom. I use the large gray rollers and some of the purple magnetic large rollers. AND I have a BIG head too!!!

i've got this dryer, it works well, except the hose attachment sometimes falls out of the bonnet....:perplexed which isn't so good, because sometimes i've gotta fish for it inside the hood and re-attach - i've had it for 90 days and i couldn't return it for a refund at walmart, i could exchange it, but they didn't stock it at the walmart that i went to, i'll go to the original store and switch it out, i guess...i wanted a refund bcs i was hoping to find a more durable brand...but this brand does heat up well.

I went to a Sally's and Walmart and neither had any soft bonnet dryers. I also checked Walmart online and it said there were none in any of the Walmarts within 100 miles of my zip code! :wallbash:

I'm about to call another Sally's and see if I can find one.

I WANT A SOFT BONNET DRYER!

The thing is, I have to do my rollerset this Thursday (I'm going out of town on Friday) so I am pressed to get one soon...preferably in store locally because otherwise I probably have to pay an arm and a leg to ship it (i.e. via Amazon.com).

I bought this one @ TJ Maxx this past weekend for $24.99. It's the Revlon Amber Waves Professional Ionic Soft Bonnet Dryer. I only used it to DC Saturday night, but so far so good. I plan on using it to do a ponytail rollerset tonight. The bonnet is HUGE and should be able to fit a good number of rollers. It's too soon to say whether or not I love it, but I'll keep yall posted.

I thought I voted on this already, but I guess not...

I voted other - Ihave 2 soft bonnets, one is the ion silver spaceman one and the other is a vintage GE hair dryer from the 70s. Both work great, both have big bonnets to fit large rollers. The ion is small enough to take when I travel - I got both on Ebay (so far so good).

I also bought the Revlon from TJMaxx. I worked really well. It has 3 settings hot, medium and cool. The hot gets really hot. I use it for DC and I have done 2 roller sets and curlformers. My hair came out smooth and dried pretty fast about 45 min. Today the hose ripped. I am so mad. Now I have to go find another dryer. Any tips something less than the Pibbs. That one is out of my range. TIA

I bought this one today from tj maxx and walmart has it online for $31.98 I'm glad I went to tj maxx I havent used it yet though

It must be sold out. I ordered this 2 weeks ago and I have it now. You can get the same one on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Lava-Soft-Bon..._bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1205858678&sr=8-1

I ordered 2 vintage soft bonnets off Ebay because the people on this board raved about vintage dryers. I lucked up and got 2 never been used soft bonnets from the 60s, I will just be alternating among the 3 since I hate how hot I get under the hard bonnet dryers.

The Lava Soft Bonnet Dryer is now out of stock on Amazon.

I have the Carel from Sallys...I think I'm going to sell it. It has 3 settings, cool, low and high. The high setting is so hot that it burns your ears, neck, earrings, etc...and the low takes forever to dry...I wish I had spent the extra 5 or so bucks for the Gold N Hot...

I too have the one that some of you purchased from TJ Maxx...I have only used it for deep conditioning. Im not sure of how well it works for actual drying. Recently i purchased the one that you attach to your handheld dryer and all I can say is BOOOOOOOOOOOO when it come to completely drying my hair. I sat under that thing for 2 hours and my hair was still damp. Maybe my hair required more drying time or perhaps my hair is just too thick. I got a bit impatient too. Not to mention that my forehead, neck, and ears were on fiiiiiiiiiyahhh!!! LOL Im trying to cancel out drying my hair with the comb attachment but it's sooo hard.... :(

I don't think anyone mentioned this, but the dryer on sale at TJ Maxx bears a STRIKING resemblance to the Carel dryer I bought and returned after reading this thread.

Same case, different color.

ETA: I have a Gold n Hot Ionic space helmet, and I like it a lot!

I have one. I used it when I want to take a nap after a rollerset, lol. Mine doesn't get as hot, so it takes like 2 hours for my hair to dry, but I love the convenience of being able to move around.

This is my first soft bonnet too. i'm trying to decide between the Revlon amber waves and the Conair.
