Does it make your hair way better when it's straightened? It is truly pointless to straighten my hair at this point...

Lol you too(texlax fever)?.........I'm staying far far away:grin:.

Haha just a question:look: I'll just say I'm curious...I don't know if I could give up my natural curls though... So questions number 2..

How do naturals save their hair from humidity...I promise my hair blew up IN THE CAR...:lachen:...so you can only imagine wht happened once I got out.

I got the texlax fever as well....that is why I am hiding my hair to keep from making any rash decisions :yep:

But from all the fotki's I've seen/stalked, the texlaxed hair seems to straighten better than the natural hair by a long shot.

I gave up on straight hair period that way humidity doesn't steal my temporary joy. Even my twistouts and braidouts get puffy after day 2:ohwell:.

Texlaxing helped my hair stay straighter while flat ironed. But if you love your curls dont mess with it. The first time i did it, it wasnt that much of a difference, but i got texlax happy and overpocessed it and its to straight for my liking i'm not going to do it again.

Me too!

Brockstar, I guess many of us want our length to show and our styles to last. When I see hair like DSylla (and her WL thread) and Isis, it is very tempting isn't it?

Ohhh yeah...Because honestly I LOVE my natural hair, but I like to change it up and my favorite way to do this is to straighten it..I like the contrast...Maybe I should get it professionally straightened and see how I feel

Apart of the remedy for getting over the texlax fever personally was realising the fact that the texlaxed heads I admired most now have hair that looks very similar to mine since they texlaxed so I'll stick to what I have.

IMHO, texlaxed hair doesn't straighten better, it just stays straighter longer, in most cases. I say that because if you can find a good stylist who knows how to do it, straight styles can last up to two weeks on a natural head.:yep:

Brockstar, leave that hair alone!:grin::lachen:

humidity is my worst enemy when i straighten. which is why i only do it in late fall and winter. spring is too rainy and summer is just humid 24/7 here. :nono:

when i had it professionally done last year, it had more movement than when i straighten (i put more stuff on my hair though) but it still reverted easily. even when i was relaxed/texlaxed, my hair would puff up when it was humid. i mean it stayed "straight" but it was puffy, not sleek-straight.

i just have that kind of hair... :look:

EXACTLY...It's all about skills, technique and knowing one's hair!

When I was texlaxed my hair still reverted.

Brock ... I love your hair. I mean love, love, love it. Why don't you get it professionally straightened and see how that goes first?

Lauren ... that puff ... it's just ... just ... :love2:

So I feel a little bit more encouraged
a.because of ya'll:grin:
b.I had a successful night at the club with my straightened hair!!

When it frizzed out of control today I put biosilk on it then rolled it up on these satin rollers I got from walgreens and put a scarf on it. I did my little faux banana clip style I like tonight and it went well. Thanks ya'll.

How did u eventually get the hang of it?
I noticed that I was bandwagoning a lot of the time. Sometimes it worked but most times it didn't. And when I would find something that worked, I would read about something else and follow like a lost puppy. :lachen:Most people don't like heavy products for example, I do. And my hair generally likes heavy or a lot of product which is unpopular for many. I like to make sure my hair is "coated" and moisturized. A dime size of product is really going to cover my whole head of hair effectively? No, not me.

I brought samples of different product lines and tried them and observed what techniques and products worked and didn't. Recently, I reached another milestone with products so I am excited and motivated to zero in on what truly makes my hair thrive.

Look at you! Yay!

It's all in the technique. By the time I finished my transition I had gotten the hang of straightening my hair and making it last as a natural. Now the only difference between my natural hair and texlaxed hair is that it's easier to detangle, which can speed the straightening process up a little.
