So I got these things and had NO idea how to use them, lol. I first purchased the two largest sizes and gave up on them.... Then I purchased a pack of the smaller ones just to practice. Once DLewis put up her tutorial, I was SET! Thanks soooooooo much Dlewis, you ROCK.

So I wanted a little bit of a tight kind of set something very Corrinne Bailey Rae, lol... Here are my results! The first set I tried, I liked very much. I washed/DC this day. I used Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor mixed with Coconut Oil for a pre-poo 15 mins w/ heat. Then washed with All Ways Natural Moisturizing Poo, DC with Nexxus Humectress, applied Salerm 21 B12 and HE Long Term Relationship Leave-in. Then I made a setting lotion made of Lotta Body/Coconut Oil/A little bit of Herbal Essences Breaks Over Leave-in/Water. Sat under the dryer, and this is how it came out:

In the pics above I had set them and then separated some of the curls so that they have a fuller look. Some were a little more loose than others because I got bored sitting under the dryer so they were still a tad bit damp (not wet) when I was done and I just let them air dry and then went to bed. This is AFTER I woke up in the morning, so they held up pretty well and were VERY soft.

For my second wash day - I did the same sorta routine minus the DC. I like this result better, I'm starting to get a hang of it.

Here is the set with the rods in:

After they dried and I took them out. I then put a satin bonnet on and went to bed:

In the morning I just fluff it up a little with some Herbal Essences leave-in. I was going to buy the curlformers, but Sally's in Brooklyn is AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL the way in the boondocks, and the subway doesnt even go there.... :nono: I'd have to take the bus.... In my book that's way too far. Plus the hook thing looks like it will cause some kind of catastrophe in my hand.... TRUST ME IT WILL.... lol. So I'm really happy sticking with this. IT'S SOOOO QUICK and SIMPLE. And it doesnt take all day to dry.

I'm going to try the larger ones in place of roller setting to see how that turns out. I'm trying to do this minimal direct heat thing....:yep: Although I love my flat iron, lol.

ETA: I am now 5 weeks post! And the NG is kicking in... These get my NG pretty straight.

Cuuuuute!

How long did it take you to put all of the flexirods in? I want to do some but I'm still getting the hand of regular rollersets, just did my third rollerset today, using magnetic rollers, and i'm afraid that flexirods will be a whole 'nother drama.:lachen:

Kind of OT but, what kind of eye shadow are you wearing? I like the glow of it in the second to last pic.

How long did it take you to set your hair with the flexirods? I love the look, hopefully I can learn how to do them myself soon.

Thanks ladies sooo much. The flexirods are so simple to use, I'm not sure why I was too ditzy to figure it out on my own, lol. My friends swear I'm a blond under my dark roots, lol:spinning::drunk:.

I think it took me about 20 mins or so to set the rods in. Maybe 25 if that long. I know "The Simpsons" was on, and when I was done putting them in, the show was just about ending.

As to the eyeshadow, believe it or not I found this cool shimmer stuff by Wet and Wild that you can use on your eyes, cheeks, and lips. It comes in the big round disk thing and is a creme. It lasts a long time and it adds a nice subtle shine. My make-up collection consists of everything from high end to low end, I love stuff that gives that dewy glow. I'd also recommend Loreal HIP collection pigments in Gold! That stuff is very :lick:. You only need a little. Those are my new must haves.

Love your results. I'm a licensed hairstylist and flexirods I cannnot get for the life of me  :look:. Anyways, I'm a secret stalker of your fotki and you are so creative with your protective styles. I luv that!

BTW- I luv that shadow as well and I will be looking for it next time I hit up Walmart.

Sooooooo cute! I tried this once and it was a disaster! :perplexedHow long did you have to sit under the dryer?

HOW MUCH are you guys paying for your rods? I got a pack of 10 for $5.49 at Sally's - is that a good deal? :perplexed

I think that the going price at Sally's and other BSS. The smaller flexirods have more in the pack than the larger sizes for about the same price ($5.49-5.99/pack). I bought one package containing 4 jumbos(blue) for $5.99 (w/Sally's card).

ETA: Your hair looks beautiful, foxie!
