Has anyone heard of this? I went to the hairdressers today and she offered me some!! Has anyone heard of this being used for breakage?:look:

Maybe she was joking you. You know the saying....that hair growth tonics aint nothing but "Snake Oil in a bottle". Meaning its just hocus pocus water and empty promises.

I don't think I would even by it.

Just think about it this way.

The only way to stop breakage or not have any breakage, is preventing it.

And there are so many threads in here that explains how you can prevent hair breakage and what causes hair breakage.

I wouldnt waste money on buying the oil. But would spend time on the boards to understand what causes breakage and how to prevent it

And the best part of that. The advice is free :3

That's what I was thinking...this was a joke. I could be wrong. You may want to ask her to clarify.

No No It's not a joke. I saw snake oil in my local CVS in the ethnic section which is right across from the black hair supplies. I was scared too. What is that for? !?!

no but ummmm.... i scurred :spike:

are you going to try it?

Yes i was scared too!! I only went in for a trim! anyways i quietly pout it down and backed away. Only cost me a fiver for my trim and it came out very nice!! So no snake oil for me lol

Ladies
sorry to say its not a joke all of the women here in egypt use it in their hair along w/ casor, amla, mink, jajoba, vit E, vitika, almond and cocoanut oil they sell them all in the pharnacies pure.

But when I first seen it as well I just breezed right by it untill I ask an egyptian women about it and she told me all of them use it and they have hair to the floor no lie :yep::yep:

I def believe it...I've seen snake oil on two occassions: once in Cairo, Egypt and once in a market at Marrakech, Moroco; both times on vacation. They have it in oil and tablet form.

My mum uses snake oil from tine to time, the one i saw , just seemed full of mineral oil:nono:, she and my little sisiter liked it, i have no idea where she got it from, i think one of her friends gave it to her

Never heard of it but yall gonna have all the pjs in here buying up snake oil! Let me get out of here b4 the mahem begins and I get caught up!

I respect everyone's decision to stand behind products that work for them, but "snake oil" is a colloquialism for "bogus" in the English language. That is enough to make me wary...very wary. :perplexed

I never seen it all in one here but you can mix it yourself and I think its a cobra snake oil b/c thats what's on the front of it.

co-signing on this.

If the hair dresser who offered the 'snake oil' doesn't have long healthy hair then I'd pass....and even if she did I'd probably still pass.

I've heard of snake oil for medicinal purposes but not for haircare:perplexed. Hmm, I guess the PJ in me wouldn't mind trying it if I hear success stories from my LHCF sistas.:look:

i've been to egypt...cairo and alexandria and i didn't see women with hair down to the floor (it's not mandatory to cover there) and nor have i've seen snake oil in the pharmacies...i'll have to pass on this one

everyone has a snake and oil to sell

In homeopathic medicine there is a "snake" in a tablet lol

It's called Lachesis. For some, it is used to promote hair growth. You take it in tablet form under the tongue.

It is mainly for women with hormonal problems, thus correcting the hormones leads to reversal of androgenic alopecia

I have been to both of those places and I didn't see it either BUT I also didn't know to look for it either. Off to ask SO to go to the pharmacy and check it out!

snake oil"!:naughty::evillaugh::Run::gunner7::ban2::realitycheck::nono2::pity::confused::badidea::badidea::endworld::darkcloud::deadhorse:...I guess I could have just said ..."I'll pass" ..but it gave me a good reason to use these smilies:grin:

I totally agree with this

AINT NO WAY.... IN HOT H-E-1-1

I'm sorry, I am PETRIFIED of snakes...and I dont want ANYTHING that remotely inhabits the essence of a snake anywhere near me. Not even for long, shiny, rapunzel hair...

Y'all can have this one...

Exactly. Just another "snake oil salesman". That was my first thought. But hey, if its for real...let us know. :look:
