What styles can you do? How would you rate your performance? Amateur, Intermediate, professional?

I want to learn how to create more hairstyles. :yep: I'm thinking of taking a quick course and learning as a hobby or trying a video. I think I will try to learn on my own from a video first and also see if there is a stylist who wouldn't mind teaching me some things for free. My old stylist loved teaching me how to rollerset, etc.

Flexi rod/perm rollers/Bantu Knot out- On natural hair i can do it well if i do say so my self

Ponytails:nono:
Twists-Average/poor
Braids-Box Braids i'm ok
Cornrows:sad::nono:
French Braids:look: nearly not on myself though

I'm just not a natural at it, i haven't got the gift

i can barely pull my hair back in a ponytail!

i am pretty good at cornrows though (without weave).

:lachen: :lachen: How long is your hair? What kind of style would you like to know how to do?

 It's about chinlength - a little longer in the back, because I have 'natural' layers - I want to learn more intricate and involved braids, and updos. My hair doesn't do any sort of curl besides it's natural one, so I don't even get into flexirods and roller sets, and etc.
I'd like to learn how to cornrow (or more importantly, how to part your OWN head perfectly!) as that's a simple braid I haven't wrapped my fingers around ...

Cornrows...I'd call myself a Semi-pro.
I'm not fast enough to be a pro.

But I can do just about everything but Weaves. I'd probably be good at those too, they just aren't my thing.

I would say...intermediate.
When my hair was relaxed (longer), I did a different style everyday. That was back in the day, during french rolls, flip up, bobs ect.

I can:

-just hand me a curling iron <<<Is that a bad word?
-french braid (my hair and others)
-flat twist (my hair and others)
-two-strand flat twist (my hair and others)
-flat twist with hair added (on other people)
-im an expert parter (I have a technique)
-ponytails
-i can copy a style. Just show me a picture and I can recreate it.

But I can't cornrow!! :nono:

I'm going to have to steal a pp term I'm a "semi-pro" when it comes to installing weaves. I'm a pro at cornrows although they are my least fav thing to do. I'm mediocre at everything else!

Did you do your own in your pics? They look great!:yep:

I wish I knew how to do my own, I swear no one would be able to tell me anything!:lachen:

I can curl and style the mess out of some short hair. I wore it for 10 years. I love it!

And I can keep a style that my hairstylist gives me. In fact usually when I walk in the salon other customers ask me why I'm there, didn't I just get my hair done.

Other than that, I can do simple styles.

I would consider myself a pro with bantu knots sets and two-strand twist-outs. I am also a pro with any type of curling iron, any size. I'm an amateur with cornrows. I'm still experimenting so hopefully I will be a pro soon!

I consider myself intermediate at all things... except for the hot comb... but
i can braid (it helped with bills the first year or college)
I can flattwist...
I can do two strand twist...
I can blow dry my own hair and other ppl hair straight (this is getting harder as natural my 4a/b hair gets longer)
I can pretty much do anything... Just haven't really put time into anything recently my hair has been in a bun for almost 2 months..:newbie:

To be honest with you, I'm not even sure why the French braids are even called "French" when they're just a bigger "cornrow* LOL

But on to the topic at hand:
My main specialty is really doing mostly braids/cornrows with or without weave, I'd consider myself a (semi-pro) on that level. This is my side hustle:grin:

I can do on others:
Twists (flat twists, 2 strand twists, 3 strand twists)
Sew-In Weaves (full and half)
Rollersetting
Buns
Ponytails
Relaxers/Texturizers
Haircuts
FlatIron/Curling Iron
Lots of other things

There's only ONE thing I CANNOT do and WILL NOT do, and that's the Jherri Curl/Wave Nouveau chemical processes.

On my own head, I can do my own braids. But I'm a natural head now, and I'm trying to learn different techniques to do. So I'm an amateur in that area at this time. Wash n gos are what I do in my hair mostly for the time being.

I already knew how to braid/plait my hair and make a ponytail but the rest I learned on this board:

Braidouts
Rollersets
Braidout Ponytails
Regular Buns and Side Buns
Braided Buns
Braided Updos
French Braids
French Twists

I think that's all so far...I would say I'm Intermediate right now. :)
