For those who remember, my edges are thinning. I finally came to the realization with the help of those who responded to my post (THANKS LADIES) that my scarf was the culprit. It was suggested by Asthecurlzturns that I get a bonnet with a headband attachment. So, since I couldn't find one, I had my mother make one with a headband I had laying around and some satin material she had. As requested, here are some pics.

Its not perfect but it will get the job done. Im only wearing while im sleep (obviously) so it's doesn't have to look that cute.

Do you guys think this will help with my problem? Or do you think the headband will still rub those areas?

Aren't moms GREAT!

I would still be worried about the cotton trim though.:perplexed Maybe mom can sew a piece of satin over the cotton part and still keep the closure intact.

She did a good job! Ask her if she can make scrunchies.

good idea.

Aawwwwweeee she did a wonderful job!!! And that's even bigger than mine's!!!! Now I want one!!! But also that idea of some satin over the headband portion is a great idea, now why didn't I think of that LOL!!! Also you got it place over your hair edges, so you should be good, but try the idea frizzy gave you and see which one feels better to you. But overall it's cute though!! Tell your mom she did an awesome job and I want one!!:grin:LOL

This is what I was thinking! Mom did a great job though. I would get some satin for over the cotton. I just bought something similar to this at Walgreens but the head band part is satin.

I called her about adding a satin piece underneath the headband as suggested. She is going to make the next one like that.

My Walgreens doesn't carry those :ohwell:

first, I think it's great that your mother made that for you. It's very sweet and thoughtful.

As for the other, yes, maybe a satin band instead of cloth might be more hair friendly.

Nothing like a mother's love. I think the bonnet is cute. Hmmm your mom may have to go into business making specialized satin bonnets. :yep:

I really like how big the bonnet part is. You mother did a great job and could sell these, including silk ones!

I like how the bonnet part is big to. So in a zillion years, when my hair gets longer and I can put it in single twists, they'll have somewhere to hang.

nice i wish my mom could sew!!! shoot i need one of those too...those scruncy things on my bonnets are IRRITATING!!! and they don't stay on!!

They have satin bonnets like this at Sally's with the satin band around the edges to keep it in place, I have one.

Wow...mommy dearest did a wonderful job....this is exactly what i need...im going to walmart, walgreens and sally to look for this and if i dont find....i will have to put my order in:grin:. i like how big she made it and i agree with the ladies that suggested lining the cotton band with satin instead

Just turn it inside out and flip the band up where the satin is touching your edges but the band still holds.

I have a bonnet with strong elastic and this is what I do to protect my edges, it works.

yeah, that is exactly what im doing now. I mentioned in the thread that she is going to make me another one. She had planned on making 2 anyway. This next one she is going to cover the headband with the satin material. That one is going to be leopard print....i can't wait!!
