Rollersetting?

I know this could quite possibly be a re-hashed topic, but does anyone else here have problems roller-setting? I can't seem to get the roller as close to my scalp as I want it (my roots are too wavy) and it just won't straighten like I'd like it to...any tips?

Are you relaxed but you just have a lot of new growth? How much new growth do you hair? Do you use a fine tooth comb?

my only problem with roller setting is picking out the correct sized roller...then again, if you arent getting close enough or tight enough of a set, that may be your issue as well

AC, try combing your hair forward on a 90 degree angle, then roll down. Make sure you pull the hair taunt...roll pull..roll pull. This should smooth out your waves.
Make sure you secure them snug, the roller covers are easier to use than the clips or hair pins. Also, be sure not to pull the hair too tight because as it dries it will shrink & can cause breakage. HTH

The roller size doesn't matter that much as far as straightness so long as you can fit your hair around the whole roller.

I'm natural and have quite a bit new growth...and I don't use fine tooth comb. I also have trouble using the right sized rollers and distributing how much hair should go on each roller. Mainly, I have a hard time figuring out how to pull the hair as tightly as I can and then roll; As soon as I start rolling, the hair loosens off the roller at the roots and I have a semi-puffy rollerset. *smh*

That DOES help quite a bit, thanks!
