Hi Ladies,
We have an Aveda hair school here in Tallahassee, FL. I'm about 7 weeks post and I've been considering going there for my next relaxer. I understand that it's the students that actually work on your hair, would you guys trust this or do you think it's too much of a risk. I've been dying to try some of their products and also a girl from my church got a blow out from them, she had nearly waist length hair at the time and I can not explain how good her hair looked. It was so silky and smooth and swangin' like crazy. So with all that said I was just wondering what you guys think about this, would you let students work on your hair even if they're Aveda students or would you stick with the professionals? Thanks for any responses.

I probably wouldn't go for a relaxer the first time. I'd probably do a blow out, sniff them out and then consider going for the relaxer if I felt confident in their skills.

It would be great if you could catch them doing a relaxer when you went for a blow out, then you would really know what to expect.

If they have people there that are learning to tdo black hair, then I think u'ld probably be alright. :yep: Sometimes people who go to cosmetology school can already do things like relaxers b/c they have been doing them on their friends at home. Plus, whoever does ur hair will be under the supervision of a certified stylist, probably even a MASTER STYLIST... ooooh :giggle:

Yeah I'm sure you're right, I was just kind of skeptical. I think I will still just do what joyful suggested though and try a roller set or blow out first and see how I like that. Thanks for responding guys:yep:

I also live in Tallahassee and have visited the Aveda school ( I go there for pedicures) and inquired about their relaxers. They are expensive like around $75 bucks to get it done. I would go for the blow out just to see. All the ladies I see are very knowledgable about hair. I give them pop quizzes when I get my toes done.. lol. I would test them out and see if I had the money to spare.
