I don't have hard water at all. I'm a very low cone user. But for the past 2 weeks, my hair is reacting weird to products. Especially my DCs. Its like my reg. DC's aren't penetrating enuff and leaving my hair a lil snappy. the same goes for my moisturizers.

I've clarified last week hoping that will help, but it didn't help much.

So should i try chelating? Would that even impact my hair at all considering my water quality?

hi poochie!

do you use a no lye relaxer. because you might need to chelate if you do. does your hair feel dry?

Hi loca!

i actually use a lye relaxer. but my hair is definitely dryer than normal. It just seems like whatever DC or moisturizer i use, its just not penetrating very well. but it was fine before.

if chelating is not necessary i may have to just clarify AGAIN!:ohwell:

Are your DC's mainly moisturizing DC's or mainly protein DC's? I had a similar problem last year and for me it was an issue of porosity. My hair was overly porous and so all of my moisturizing products were not penetrating. I did a little protein treatment and all was well. Roux Porosity Control also helps.

As someone whose hair is protein sensitive and very susceptible to protein overload, I would suggest you check the porosity of your hair before you incorporate any protein. If I remember correctly, you can do that via a float test. Put a strand of your hair in a bowl of water-- if it floats, your porosity is fine and if it sinks then your hair is overly porous.

I hope this helps!
