what do you do when some parts of your hair are growing much faster than others

im trying to see if i can stretch now for three months at a time but i do noticed that certain areas grow extremley faster than others.. especially around the nape..

wat do you guys do.. when u have this problem.. do you just leave it or try to blend it in with the straight texture..

I'm not doing anything about it..I'm wearing a bun 90% of the time (Mon-Sat) so I can't see the unevenness so it doesn't bother me as much. I mentioned in another thread that my sides (around ear), nape and hairline grow at a snails pace.

Just one inch from the hairline it's grown about an inch and a half since November and in the crown area it looks to be a little over two inches..so as you can imagine it's madness going on all over the head, but I'm not going to worry about it because my hair has always grown at a different pace throughout my head.

Once it's BSL, I may try and let the stylist 'attempt' to even it up, IF I feel I can trust her to make small clips at each setting. If not, I'll wait until I'm WL and can take an inch cut to even it up w/o having to worry about length.

My hair grows slower in the front and side, so I guess my answer is to just blend it. I try to keep my nape extra moisturized and wear a scarf at night to get everything to lay as flat as possible.

when stretching this is my issue too.. I just wear curly styles so you can't see all the different lengths.. or I also trim the nape so it won't appear to be so much longer than the crown area and such.

My nape is a looser curl texture where my crown is a tighter curl/coil texture...

No - seriously though -- my hair grows from the middle/crown and the growth rate dramatically decreases as you move outward. I wear my hair up 90% of the time. It's gotten to the length now though where I just keep a side bang in front, and the nape is past my shoulders so it's not so obvious. I find that a rollerset hides things nicely.

I trim it once/year to even it up. The rest of the time I just ignore it.

This is what I do and what i plan to keep doing until my hair is at a length where I don't mind a crew cut. When I get to APL, I may get it trimmed back to SL for some evenness. Until then, it will have to be uneven!

I do my best to camoflage it and make it blend in. I'm transitioning so either its in protective styles or every few months I'm trimming anyway.

If you aren't wearing protective styles make sure that you are gentle and baby the area that grows slower. Massage it longer and definitely treat it like silk.

If your ends aren't damaged try just bumping them or wearing protective styles to hide the uneveness, eventually the shorter hairs will catch up.

My crown grows the fastest so I don't have to do much b/c I wear my hair in a bun everyday so it works out just fine Try to camoflauge it by wearing braidout/twistouts or some sort protective style.

My crown grows super fast! I tracked growth for a year. Last July my hair was 6 inches everywhere. It had been cut in layers. One year later and after a few dustings, my crown is 15 inches! That's 9 inches in a year! The rest of my hair ranged from 6-7 inches growth for the year. Good thing I had layers cause now my crown is only 2 inches shorter than my nape. Soon my nape and crown will be the same length but the sides are still catching up. I'm just letting it be and once I reach my final goal. I'll maintain through trims while the sides catch up. I Rollerset and this covers up the unevenness
