Which Soft Bonnett do You Use?

Ladies, I'm interested in purchasing a soft bonnett for rollersets. Are they safe for our hair? Meaning they won't add too much heat like hand held dryers?

Which brands to you use?

I have a Conair and I like it, but it's my first softbonnet so I have nothing to compare it to. It gets really hot, so I use it on medium heat for deep conditoning. I've never used it for rollersets, cause I can't rollerset to save my life! It comes with a nozzle attachment and a brush-like attachment, so you can blowdry your hair. That comes in handy, because I'm cheap and broke, and I like that I don't have to purchase a seperate blowdryer

HTH!

LOL hair cousin :lachen:

I saw pics of the conair one, and it doesn't look like it's big enough to fit rollers. Is your head piece adjustable?

Yep cuz (hehe :giggle: ) the bonnet has a drawstring on it, so you can adjust it. It opens up pretty damn big, too! Here's what the box says:

GREAT FOR HOT CONDITIONING AND ROLLERSETS

-Extra large bonnet fits over jumbo rollers
-Concentrator nozzle for precision styling
-Vent brush for hot air curling power
-Extra-long 4 ft hose
-Purse shaped case saves space

Tiffers, What's the longest you've used your dryer? I'm asking b/c I had a soft bonnet and about an hour into drying my rollerset the hose melted. :nono: I want another but haven't put forth the effort so this thread is helpful to me. Thanks!

My gold n hot is great. It dries my ponytail rollersets in 1 hour and allows me to watch TV while doing it. T hose gets hot though, so be sure to keep it away from your skin.

I borrow this one from my sister. Gold N Hot Soft Bonnet Dryer. I've been laying off the blow dryer and have been doing rollersets since xmas. I noticed a lot less breakage and YES they are safe.

It takes me 1 hr, 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hrs to completely dry my hair. It only has two heat settings. Cool/Hot and it doesnt burn my scalp off with heat. Has a nice steady flow of heat and my neck and ears aren't on fire.

I've heard a lot of reviews about the second bonnet dryer(Select Pro Gold Soft Bonnet Dryer) that i saw at walmart for under $30 and I might get that so i can have my own just in case the Gold N Hot burns out on me.

Dang! What brand was that?! Did the melted plastic burn you?

I usually use it for an hour to deep condition a few times a week. I also use it a few times a week on my dh for an hour and my dd for 30-40 minutes. It's a sturdy little dryer :yep:

I ordered the same dryer MizzBrown is referring to earlier this week from Walmart.com.
I've never used this type of dryer but I'm hoping it will work well.

I'm going to look for this one -- I doubt "our" wal-mart will have it.

Out of all who responded: does the soft bonnett dryer dry your hair just as good as a head dryer? Is any heat lost? Does it dry faster/slower than a head dryer?

Dries just as good just not as powerful as the hooded ones that cost more. For example, in the salon, my hair dries in 45 minutes vs 1 & 1/2 hrs w/ a soft bonnet.

The salon driers get a whole lot hotter too. I always want to wear a tank top when i go the salon cause it gets hot under there and i have to take little breaks and poke my head out because its like a furnace.

I prefer soft bonnet over the standing hooding because i get more movement. I can lay on my bed, go to sleep, surf LHCF and get at least 3-5 feet range of freedom with the cord.

I hate hooded dryers with a PASSION especially if I wanna rock a straw set or even a simple small roller set style. I remember one time my silver chain started to burn my neck and turned black:nono:

If I could rollerset my hair and move around (i.e watch tv) or even sleep?! I might just consider that.

I wonder if with frequent use the hose would deteriorate?:perplexed

Ladies?

ladies I use some $30-$40 soft bonnet dryer from walmart. . . my soft bonnet dryer is EASILY the best thing that has happened to my thick hair and small rollers in the longest time. the bonnet is like HUGE! and I can lay down in my bed, turn the tv on mute, put on caption and just lay there for 2 hours or so. . . I've had hard dryers before, not really a fan of the last of freedom of movement (and back in my flexirod days, I could barely fit my head under them. . . plus they make my neck/shoulders hot. . . with the soft bonnet dryer, all the head is focused on my hair (you know because of the elastic & drawstring around it). . . let's 1, 2 step for soft bonnets.

I doubt it. . . like that's what it was built for (having hot air blowin constantly through it). but I usually check to see if the hose is gettin super hot or if it feels like it is melting or anything silly, and it never does. when I get home, i will post the brand of the one I have. . . but i know it's not carvel, gold n hot, or any of the other popular ones.

I really like soft bonnet dryers, but I am NOT pleased with my Carel dryer. It takes super long to dry and even with my braid outs, I have to let my hair dry first. My rollersets are almost double timed to get right. I used my friends Gold N Hot and I loved it!! My hair dried in 45 minutes and I'm going to invest in this one when I save some money. I'm thinking of selling my Carel on Ebay.

Ladies with thick hair, save your money on this dryer.

how did I miss this post?? anywho, that is the one I have. . . bought it from walmart. . . love love love it.

I have a Gold n Hot Soft Bonnet and I love it ! A friend of mine has hair longer and thicker than my hair and she started using the Gold n Hot this past Summer.. after her raves I went and purchased one and I am so glad I did.

I have a Gold and Hot bonnett. Although I'm still not good with my rollersets, I like my bonnett. I have no complaints about it. It has four settings and I haven't experienced with anything melting so far..

I have the vidal sassoon 1. its really good, does the job, fits all my rollers and has space for bigger ones coz my hair isnt long right now. i like it a lot. i use it when im at college coz i cnt bring my hood dryer with me there. so yh its gr8!

My nearest Walmart did not have it either. I ordered online and I will have to pick it up in the store. There is no shipping cost when you pick it up from the store.

Ya I had a feeling about this dryer. Its probably made for white hair, and doesn't get hot enough to dry ours.

Ladies, I was in Sally's today and I noticed they sell the bonnett attachment (just the head piece and hose) and you attach a blow dryer to the hose. Has anyone tried this method?

I'm sure it will give you less mobility, because in this case you will have to keep within the length of the cord.
