Hi all!

So, I have just gotten back on the haircare wagon after a two-month hiatus (moving, new job, new school etc).:nono: Anyways, I have been shedding/breaking SO MUCH from a simple clip-up seemingly protective style for the month or so. I mean, everytime I touched my hair, at least 5-10 strands would follow!! So, for the past two weeks, I have been babying my hair like no one's business. Baggy'd the ends for two days straight, started using surge again, re-uped on the vitamins and today I tried my first pre-poo: olive oil, 2 raw eggs and my favorite conditioner. I just let the water get a little too warm in the rinse and ended up with some cooked egg in my hair.:wallbash: I hope the pigeons don't chase me tomorrow at work...:lachen:I know, silly newbie. Anyways, I need some advice, so I'm coming to you oh wise LHCF sisters. WHat do you do to pre-poo??

I use conditioner and oil together w/ heat for 30 min
I also use a yogart/buttermilk/coconut milk mixture for straightneing my newgrowth when I have alot of new growth for 1 hr no heat
An herbal mixture for 1 hr no heat, or ill add the yogart mixture and herbal mixture together

Ver 1:Olive oil, Milk and Honey Coconut Conditioner, and 1-2 tablespoons of Brown Sugar( for scalp massage)
Ver 2: Palm Kernal Oil, Conditioner, Olive Oil

Most of the time I use heat but this last time I used version 1 and got great results after 20 mins of massage and no heat. Followed by a wash, protein treatment with Approgee(sp), Milk and Honey Coconut Conditioner in the shower while I washed up, rinse, dry, wrap, and under the dryer.

I included the whole routine to note that the good results could have also been due to other factors. Ver 2 kept my scalp from flaking. I noticed two weeks later that I still didn't need to wash my hair.

I need to post my pictures. I will update tonight.

EVOO under heat, is my tried and true prepoo (or for a few hours without heat).
When I have a lot of NG, I mix EVOO with honey, coconut milk, and condish.
I also like cholesterol, which I have not done in a while.
If I need a protein, ORS Mayo or Aphogee Two-Minute Reconstructor are great ones too that I do every now and then.

Just wanted to share with you, I started getting the best results from prepooing (and everything else) when I learned not to be too heavy-handed. So I section off my hair, and lightly coat it. When the hair is soaking wet with all types of products, you run the risk of over-conditioning, which is counter-productive.

Also, there are tons of prepoo threads, so do a search to get more ideas.

When I decide to do a pre-poo, I apply Dabur Amla oil and cover with a plastic cap for about 30min-1 hour and then I just rinse and continue with my regular shampoo and condition routine.

If I don't feel like doing the oil application then I just apply my cheapie Suave milk n honey conditioner and apply on my crown area only (this is the sahara desert on my head) and then I let that sit for a bit and then rinse and continue with my regular shampoo and condition routine.

In the past, I have also deep con. with heat first and then continue with my shampoo and rinse out conditioner routine and this works as well.

For my pre-poos, I mix cheapie conditioner & castor oil and apply on dry hair. I sit under the dryer for 30 min. My hair loves this!

I like coconut oil on dry hair no heat, then heat for like 15 mins. then put a cheapie conditioner on and mix it w/ the coconut oil, heat for 15-30 mins or just go about your business for a few hours till you rinse out cowash and deep condition.

I mix with conditioner w/coconut oil on dry hair overnight...I cover with plastic cap and scarf....Not a lot of time I'll pre poo 15 mins under dryer before washing

I mix oil (olive, coconut, castor) with Queen Helene Cholesterol with Ginseng or just use Vitale Olive (1st ingredient IS olive oil):yep:

Put on dry hair

Warm slightly wet towel in microwave and cover hair with steamy towel

Put on plastic cap and wrap hair in turbie twist of towel for 1-3 hours!

What do you do to warm your towel in the microwave (how long) - I was scared to do that but it would help as a steam treatment. Thanks.

Depending on my/ hair's mood I do one of these:

1 Vatika or some other oils on hair overnight

2 cheapie conditioner or a deep conditioner alone or mixed with a combination of oils, butters sometimes molasses and sit under dryer 30 min or leave on for an hour or so.

my pre-poo consists of a spray bottle with cheapie conditioner, olive oil, and warm water... sprayed on my head, and covered in a shower cap for about 10-20 minutes before the shower and poo
