Is that oil? What kind?

It is Brahmi Herbal Hair Oil. It is in solid form due to the coconut oil. I ordered it off line. I just opened the box and it was all solidified to one side of the bottle. Along one side it was black. I'm not sure if that was due to one of the other oils. It has like 10 different oils in it.

Yeah, part of it looks like it could be solidified coconut oil or something, that's why I asked what kind of oil. But I can't tell with the rest. How does it smell?

Can you post the ingredients? It looks like mold.:ohwell:
Are there any dates on the bottle?

I was thinking it may be mold. The date is 11/2006, but all my other oils are good 36 months after the manufacturers date.

It contains:

coconut oil
kothmir
kachurao
sitalchini
uplet
gahunta
padopandadi
marvo
dudhi
valo
kapurkarhali
damaro
shankhapushpi
vaj
vangro
brahmi
lemon
gulab
amla
nagamoth
nagod
bavachi
sahedevi

I can most definitely make out a coconut smell with a hint of something else, but I'm not familiar with that scent.

Ok if that white solid is coconut oil, I looked and thought it was mold, so it is herbs suspended in at least, coconut oil.

No, actually one side of the bottle was black and the remaining part is green. I squeezed the bottle. This is why it looks mixed black and green. It was just one long strip of black something along one side of the bottle from being laid on one side.

I had the same brahmi oil and it looked the same way. The second time i used mines it had something black at the bottom and the smell was so funky :barf: :barf: :barf: I threw it away! It had to be mold yuck!

Here is another pic. You can see the black residue on the right side.

Ooooh, girl, NO.

It should NOT look like that - I don't know WHAT that black stripe is down the side, but it is NOTHING right.
I got a bottle of this from the Indian Store a few weeks ago, and the whole bottle was the lighter, almost jade green color (the color on the OTHER side of the bottle, the un-nastified side ), and it smelt like coconut oil and grass - if you've smelled henna, like that.

:nono: :nono: :nono:

Get your money back if you can, and um, WHERE did you get that from so I know not to shop there???!?!?!!

I bought this stuff at our 2nd meetup in Oct. My hair loved this stuff. Mine was 8-9 years old but it still worked wonders. I melted mine a put it in a different jar. Use it as a HOT (prepoo).

Okay, I'll trash it. I actually purchased some Ayur Shampoo from eBay from a vendor. After two weeks, I still had not received my shampoo. To resolve the issue, she agree to send me a complimentary bottle of the oil. I was wondering if it was going to be okay since she said in her last email, "I hope you like the oil." I wasn't sure if that statement was genuine or whether she was being sarcastic. Now I know.

Thank you ladies for your help! Case closed!:nono:

Maybe the case is not closed. So Dlewis, your implying the oil is okay! Did yours have a black residue in it?

Mine did not look like that, but I ordered mine in the warmer months. My hair loved it, too.

Mine did have black residue. I think the oil is fine or I wouldn't have used it on my hair.
Sorry if I'm hijacking, but.............OMG, dlewis, I almost fell out of my chair laughing at your siggy:lachen::lachen:You don't look like a gang girl. I love cornrows and I think yours are so cute!

To the OP, I don't think I'd put anything that looks like that on my hair. But if you do decide to keep it and try it out, proceed with caution. Do like a small patch test or something. Like, try using it in the back of your head and not all over just to see if you get an adverse reaction.

Yes. I bought some last week for the first time at an Indian store down the street from my house and it looked just like that. It was in a box and I had bought a lot of other stuff so I didn't see what it looked like until I got in the car.

I opened the box and was like "Ewww". I headed right back to the store and the owner said that is what it looks like when it is cold, just to run it under some hot water. And she was right.

I did the exact same thing. They looked frightened that I asked and allowed me to exchange it.:lachen: I have used it before but it was a smaller sizeand different brand. I absolutely love it I use it the night before I rinsed. HTH.

Weird. Mine was cold/solid but it didn't have the black stripe in it - it was all the same color......

Thanks ladies! I most definitely got mixed views here, so I'm really not sure.

Anyone else with thoughts to share?

I have that oil. Mine looks like that too. Except the black stuff is at the bottom (at the last 1/2 inch of the bottle). I wasnt sure what is was. I've used it twice with no problems though. Granted, I havent had any contact with the black stuff because it is at the very bottom of the bottle.

I just purchased some today! Mine looks like that too. Before reading this post I put it near the heater and it is melting tad :yep: It was very cold in the store.

yeah. I brought the exact same brand... It freaked me out at first but a few weeks later lol... It melted because it's mixed with coconut oil.. that's why it looks concentrated don't worry.. It's o.k to use.

I"m glad I read this post, I just ordered some of this oil too! I probably would have been asking the same questions.
