How do you guys do it? Any quick and easy solutions? Also do any of you just henna and DC (without shampooing or cowashing?) How does that work for you. Thanks guys!

Girl, I just put some gloves on the work in through!

Nah, I need to use shampoo to get the paste out. A full rinse with water and then about 3 lathers does it.

i henna-ed yesterday.

i needed gloves to apply it (only took me about 5 minutes), and left it on overnight.

when i washed it out, first i just stood under the showerhead for about a minute, and let the water wash off the henna from the top of my head. then i got in with my fingers, gently squeezing sections of hair to get the henna out. once i removed all the henna i could without product, i applied vo5 conditioner to my hair, let it sit for a minute or two, then rinsed it out. i repeated the conditioner thing 2 more times, and then all the henna was out of my hair.

after that, i deep conditioned, and rinsed. no tangles, and no shampoo was necessary. i think the trick is to find a conditioner with a TON of slip to it. a cheap one, because you'll need a lot of it. altogether, i used half a 99 cent bottle of vo5 silky experiences conditioner.

the whole washing process took me about 20 minutes.

So you ladies don't necessarily apply your henna like a "virgin relaxer". Just kinda dump it in and massage it w/ your gloves?

Girl, no. :lachen: I don't have time to stand there and try to smooth the henna through my roots like that - I dump it on, and squish it in, trying to work in the same direction I combed my hair so I don't ahve to worry about getting it tangled.

I henna & DC - I clean/clarify my hair, DC it, henna, rinse, DC again. But then, I don't use shampoo at ALL.

that's it!

I have to think about trying it without shampoo. I am due for henna on the Feb 3rd. We'll see.

I put mine on with gloves and a paint brush. (the big kind not the tiny ones) That way I can guide where it goes... and its not slopping everywhere.
