Should probably be posted in all of the forums....

When you take the time to post a thread title that is supposed to draw people in.....

Then you rave about what something did for you....

Can you please post the name of the product (not just oil, shampoo, or conditioner) and the brand and where you found it?

I mean really if you're gonna keep a secret then keep it don't try to have people sweating you on some "I know something you don't know stuff".

Example:

Thread title: "Fantastical hair growth formula"

OP: Wow! This product is so amazing my hair is the bestest it's ever been!

Replies: What's the name of the product? (man you know you knew someone was gonna ask)

OP: I dunno it's just some stuff I picked up (that I know the name of and ain't telling you because I know full well I'm buying it again)

Replies: I gotta get me some of that!:yep:

Or

Thread title: Majestical hair potion!

OP: I loooooooooove this stuff. My hair feels so swell. Gotta run, I will be back to post later.

Replies: Wow, I can't wait til she gets back.

*tumble weeds rolls by in the breeze*

*jeapordy song plays in the background*

*12 hours later*

OP: Yeah yall this is some good stuff:rolleyes:

Please stop begging these people for info that they don't want to give up it's not that serious! I used to ask once and that's it but now when I see the cat and mouse game I hit the back button if I need info I'll get it from someone else later.

Somebody had to say it. :saythat:

Does this really happen around here? Yeah, that isnt cute at all. However, I think folks were pretty forthcoming with information, for the most part.

Here's another. When you want to show a pic about your amazing hair growth or a crazy celeb.....try posting a picture. A picture that works! And not a link either! No Links!

I see it happen all the time. Now eventually the OP does get around to saying what the product is but why do you have to ask if the person made a thread about what a product did for them?

This is NOT coming from a bad experience that I've had on here because I usually come in to a thread late anyway so someone already asked for me or I ask or PM a person. Point is, why is it necessary to ask? And....how do you forget what you used before you post a thread? Now, I understand the forgetting part but if you're going to post something won't you try to figure it out before you post because what's the point in posting?

ETA: Oh and if you do a search on all of my posts you will find that I have only asked a person about what they were talking about maybe once (that I can remember) but you may be able to pick out two or three more times if you really dig. I've been here a year so I don't remember and if I can't remember then how can I count it against anyone?

It's like telling a joke when you've forgotten the punchline. LOL

To be honest though, I've only seen information withheld once or twice on LHCF and that was in the makeup forum. I have witnessed this behavior on a more regular basis on another hair care board which shall remain nameless... :sekret:

I feel like I see this happen a lot !!! I am tired of having to pm people to find out their secrets! Especially the people on the Ayurvedic regimine - always raving and never saying where they get their stuff. Through my own research I found lots of products at http://www.mehndiskinart.com/Kalpi_Tone_Powder.htm)
And it seems like some bandwagons like Pibbs get their own online discounts. And others are just like the OP said - I found this miracle product and I love it - pm me & I'll let you know where I got it from.:nono: So I am just going to do my own thing for now.

:lachen:It doesn't bother me...I'm usually not that pressed, but like some of the ladies said people are usually generous with sharing info. Not knowing about every majestical potion saves me money. But I understand your frustration OP.

:goodone:JB- I have to agree with you and I think it's about time someone said something! I love when I do a search, comes back with an old thread that may have the answer, after reading thru 1/2 of the board the person doesn't give the name of the product or the "secret"- instead they tell those that posted back to PM for the "majestical hair potion". Well what good is that to me...3 months later?

By the way- its nice to see someone else from PHILLY!

Philly stand up!

This is funny :lachen::lachen:because it is true....Some women go as far a locking up they're regimen and you have to be a friend to read it...I've even pm a few for passwords and they did not respond....But I don't trip there are more than enough very helpful ladies to out weigh the bad

I don't see it happen often but I do remeber when Blossom made us wait until page 18 to tell us something.

Uh well if they ain't sharing their secrets I'll share my bald to the bone secret witcha:lachen:! Ok for real are folks really holding out or are you just impatient with their success storytelling style?

You know what? I never thought about it like that:lachen:

Maybe posters just want to keep us on the edge of our seats....In all honesty, I don't want to think the worst but I still get irritated with the style even when I have no interest in getting anything myself. The formula never fails (Eye Catching Title + Success Story w/o info = Reply 1 Congratulating the person and Reply 2 Asking the person what product they used) :phone:

:yep::yep::yep:

I've seen that happen. :yep:

I've also seen post about having the best hair day (rollerset, wng, whatever) or doing a big chop with no pics or explanation what they did. :wallbash:

I like seeing pictures and knowing detailed step by steps instructions.:yep:

Lol, I dont see this happen too much, but I definitely agree that we could work on better titles that more accurately describe what the thread is about. This will make everything more useful and search-able for users in the future. All of this good information should be easy to dig up again and good titles will help with that. :o

Hmm, I agree and I think I may be guilty as well.

I can't stand when someone points you in the search direction.

I'm like:

"Dude, have you used it? (surely you haven't, if you did you would never put anyone through that)

"Have you tried searching for two words?" (please, try it and tell me what you find because normally it only pulls one word)

"Have you tried searching for any common terms?" (since you can only search one word that is going to be difficult to do especially if the search term has the word "oil" in it, you might as well pack it up sista and the search will bounce back and tell you just that!)

If you can search for two words together - Please let me know. Thanks!

Considering I'm 'still' a newbie...I know I'm probably gonna get ripped a new for this one, so my tail is in the air waiting. :spank: But...

Why do I have to beg you for your regimen? :wallbash:

This has only happened once, and everyone, has been so WONDERFUL about responding to my silly questions, posts and threads, but...

When I asked for a regimen or help to get from here to there, and my question(sss) went unanswered, In the beginning I thought "well, maybe the person does not come to the site anymore since they reached their desired length", but then I checked the last time they were active and it was recent.

I mean, yes, you can't spend all your time on the various forums, and yes, if you were to answer every pm, question, post this would be a full time job, but dang...at least once a month take the time to update your fotiki and when someone asks a regimen question, you can simply say, "see my fotki" and leave it at that.

At least the person knows that you 'some what' care about another's success. If you were treated that way when you started you never would have reached your desired length.

I absolutely cannot wait until I'm at least BSL so I can help someone along. I don't have a fotiki, right now, (because let's face it...who wants to see nuthin), but I am taking pictures and keeping my own journal on my hard drive, and once I hit my 1st qtr goal I will create a fotiki and upload this info.

I'm crossing my heart, that as the months, and years roll by...on my honor, I will update so that someone else does not have to waste their time asking me questions. I thought that was one of the purposes of the forum, cross sharing of information?

Maybe I have too much back fat, so they said, "no help for you"...I dunno? :nono:
Alright, that's enough of a whipping :spank:...my but_ is red already. I said it only happened once

I absolutely cannot wait until I'm at least mid back length so I can help someone along. I don't have a fotiki, right now, (because let's face it...who wants to see nuthin), but I am taking pictures and keeping my own journal on my hard drive, and once I hit my 1st qtr goal I will create a fotiki and upload this info.

I have always answered every pm I have gotten. Now if a question has been posted in a thread that I didn't start, I may not go back to that thread so the question may not be answered. I remember when I first joined, people wouldn't answer my pm's and that made me a better member because I would never do anyone like that.

I have too and it leaves me looking like :ohwell:.

What I don't care for is "I got it at a store in Atlanta/Philly/New York/E. Los Angeles/Your City". Could you PLEASE tell us the name of the store? Do you know how many stores are in Atlanta/Philly/New York/E. Los Angeles/Your City?

On a positive note I sure do appreciate the ladies who are willing to share just about everything about their hair and how they do things like the different MN mixes, regimes, etc. I especially appreciated DLewis's tutorial on flexi rods...man, I needed that BIG time...I actually feel like I could do it now.

But DANG...I got the photos..that's what got me excited...I would just like the regimen...the products w/o the regimen only get me half way.:look:

I guess half way is further than I was :ohwell: :yep:
