Do you still get breakage, even after cutting your hair??? Even after protein treatments??? Even after reaching APL, BSL, and beyond??? Is it mild, but always there???

yup. i still get breakage. it is very minimal as compared to what it used to be but its still there. i think its very hard, if not impossible to be 100% breakage free. but now the amount of breakage is nothing like it used to be, which was loonggg 2-4 inch hairs everywhere all the time. now i rarely see breakage in excess of maybe 1/4 -1/2 of an inch long.

Yeah, I still get breakage. I can't tell why. My hair isn't overmoisturized or overproteined. I know that it will break more when I have product and hard water buildup.

I was consistently getting breakage. U may have to back away from the protein. I was using Aphogee 2 min like 2-3 times a month. I figured it was necessary since I have not and probably never will use a hardcore treatment. My hair went wild and started breaking but since I backed away from the protein it stopped. U may have to check the products that you use as well. Mango Butter caused my hair to break way back when because I was using it 2 times a day, and could not figure out why my hair smelled so good, but was breaking. It was the protein in it. :wallbash:

YES! I've cut my hair the last 2 touch-ups, stopped using heat, trying to do a low-mani, barely combing but it still breaks. not as bad as previously but it still irks me. i don't think it will ever stop.
latley i've been plucking strands of hair to test its strength and it seems fragile still and just snaps. i've read & reread articles about getting the right balance of protein and moisture but not sure if i'm getting it right. :ohwell:

Yup, I still get breakage. I think as long as Im relaxed, some of the breakage is inevitable.:perplexed

cosigning on overdoing it on the protein....that always makes my hair break more and my hair hates moisturizers with protein too. My hair does seem to love soft proteans like wheat and silk from my ORS paks and Chi Silk Infusion. Thats about the most it can handle.

Shtow, I noticed in ur siggy u use Sunsilk Hydra TLC...I liked that for a while but I was getting hair in my hands everytime I handled my hair. It stopped when I stopped using that....then I figured out it was the keratin in it that my hair didnt like. If u get anymore breakage, u may wanna try a different moisturizer for a while.

Hmm. I never had a problem with it. I use the hydra as a leave in and the straighten up as a daily moisturizer. I have never experienced with shedding or breakage with this product, but I will keep what you said in mind sine I have been only using them for a few weeks. thanks for the heads up.

I always have breakage. I know that it is due to being overprocessed and all the dye abuse. Until I am able to trim it away I will have breakage. Eventhough I covered up the highlights the damage has already been done and makes the hair weak.

I agree.

And with me using heat once a weak, I am going to get breakage - no doubt about it. I just work hard to keep it at a minimum.

always...no matter what I do. Profectiv Megagrowth is the only product that I've used where, it doesn't stop it, but I can see the difference in how much breakage I have when I don't use if regularly. it does help minimize it. I guess it kind of inevitable with some of us.

Yep, no matter what I do, I still get breakage. My hair is really healthy from stretching relaxers, frequent conditioning, protective styles, heat only 3 times a yr, etc.... And my hair still breaks :ohwell:

I don't lose nearly as much as I did pre-LHCF, I probably lose 10 hairs a day, but it would be great it that number was 0!

I know this is the case for me also. :yep::sad:

:wallbash: I do Aphogee 2 min treatment twice a month! That maybe one reason for my breakage. I may try to limit my protein for awhile, and see how my hair is.

shortforever, i think u cud do with a change of name...

People have said this before. I may or may not. I'm content with my name for now. Once I get SL, I said I would change it for sure. I know it's contradictory, but when I created I was really sad. It's nice to reflect every now and then on where I have come from. Some people may not understand, but I do. Yeah...I know it's strange.

I have consistent breakage. Everyday I easily have 20-30 hairs each time I do anything with my hair. It's all over the floor and everywhere else. If I run my hand down my ponytail, it comes out in droves. I just used Motions CPR Treatment, hopefully it works. Other than that, I wash weekly and DC with ORS Replenishing Pak.

Either my hair doesn't like alot of manipulation or it isn't adjusting well to the relaxer since I was natural for years without this problem.

In my opinion, once you put any kind of chemical in your hair; relaxer or color or both, then you are more prone to get breakage. It's inevitable, that's why I feel that natural hair creates a better environment for growth. BUt naturals do have their issues too, over manipulation (tight braids) can cause breakage too. It's how you handle to breakage that's important. Before, I would have gotten a big cut and call it a day, now that I'm consistent with my deep treatments and such they are not a big deal.

Isnt this considered a light protein treatment? If you're using this regularly, its probably too much protein, therefore causing more breakage.

I thought about that, but I had the same amount of breakage before I started using the replenishing pak. And also when I use Nexxus Moisturizing conditioner and Creme Of Nature conditioner.
