I've been wanting to see pics of straw sets/spiral sets and was wondering if anyone has some they could share??

My spiral set is in my siggy.

That is too funny cuz after I posted this I had seen your siggy and was staring at it! :lachen:LOL

Please tell me what you used for those curls...and did you "separate" the curls or not? It looks fabulous! ;)

Thanks, zzirving! I use magnetic rollers with covers; 28, 1" size and 7, 3/4" size around the front hairline. When setting, I part my hair vertically and place the rollers the same.

I tend to not separate the curls because it's so much easier to pincurl "unseparated" curls, so that the set lasts longer, about 7 days, until my next wash. I actually prefer the fuller look of the curls after they've been separated, just a little, though.:ohwell:

By the way, your hair is too gorgeous...a well-deserved FOTM.

i have some in my Fotki, although this was back when i was transitioning and most of my hair was still relaxed. :look:

i love how the set turned out in this picture! the ringlets are so pretty!

maybe i'll try a straw set one day... i'm doing a spiral set right now (with the gray rods), and i don't think it will turn out well. :drunk:

Thanks for clarifying and thanks for the complement :drunk:

Sorry I don't have any pics of a straw/spiral set, but I do have this link to a youtube video of how to do straw sets that I picked up during my learning journey. :)

OMG, that girl's hair is TO DIE FOR. I am so jealous right about now cuz she's making me wish my hair wasn't as dense as it is--her hair is so cute just wearing it as a wash-n-go, or tied back in a little pony. I saw a couple of her other vids; she seems to have a really low maintenance routine.

Thanks for sharing!

i put some pics in my fotki of my 1st spiral set. it's not perfect, but not terrible, IMHO :yep:

I think you did an EXCELLENT job for your first try! :yep: It looks way better than mine would have looked, LOL Are you going to separate the curls at all? How are you maintaining your curls at night?

Just watched the video. I will not be doing a straw set.:nono: It would take me forever.

A couple of years ago my sister did the top of my hair in a straw set and the back in a french roll for a special occasion. The straw set part easily took two hours!!! I don't know how she had the patience to do it.

But I could see a straw set lasting for like 2 weeks, so that makes it worth it. You could probably run straw setted hair over with a car and the curls would still be set!

*GASP* ----GORGEOUS!! Is the second pic a pic of when you separated the curls??? I love the shape of your hair!

yep, the 2nd pic is after i separated the long strawset coils from pic #1. and thanks for the compliment, i am BIG on the shape of my hair!

my natural coils are very close to what this strawset looked like, so i haven't bothered to strawset since BCing. plus that style took HOURS... literally all day setting straws, drying the hair, taking straws out, pulling curls apart. it did last for a good amount of time though... unlike my natural coils, this hair didn't get smushed flat when i went to sleep! :lachen:
