I was wondering, how much rollersetting is too much. I just learned how to do it and I'm kind of liking it. The only prob is, I was my hair at least every other day. Am I able to rollerset every other day with no prob? My moisture/protein level is fine, but I'm just wondering will stress of the rollers or something like that be too much. Just curious. I air dry, by the way.

depends on your hair and how strong it is. Honestly I only do my rollerset over when the body falls out of it .... try it for awhile and check how ur hair is doing.... thats the only thing i can think of.. .Also you gotta make sure u dc and do protein treatments to keep your hair strong...

Thanks Krissy. My hair is pretty strong. I gotta another question. You know how when you start getting to the back of your head, do you change the way you rollerset? Like, does the direction change? Or do you still pull the hair forward. I'm thinking that I'm supposed to instead, start pulling the hair back and place the roller on top, then roll up. I wish I could find a tutorial that makes this clear. Healthytextures didn't make it clear enough for me.

honestly i use whatever technique works if i roll it up and it dont stay then i roll it under and usually works...so its like a mix of roller up and down all over my head....

I don't think you can rollerset too much but I think that 3 times a week is too much manipulation. Most people wear protective styles or have low manipulation regimens in order to retain length. I think you're defeating the purpose by rollersetting 3 times a week.

Thanks for this! I'll calm it down.

I'm too lazy to do it more than once a week. It takes a good 4 hours out of my day. Problem solved.

wow 4hrs! I can't wait til my hair is that long where it takes 4 hrs. it only takes me an hr and i'm new at this. maybe when i get to BSL it'll take me 4hrs just as well... I can't WAIT!

You may run into trouble with the high manipulation. For me it takes a lot of manipulation to rollerset, combing each section smooth with a fine tooth comb and stuff. I wouldn't do it more than once a week.

i know this is off topic BUT...........

Allandra has had waist length hair for a long time, maybe longer by now. :)

As for me, I have been rollersetting twice a week during the whole last year without any drawback.
I asked a longhaired hairdresser friend of my mother: she has been rollersetting daily in her salon for years, but she pointed out that she was not using heat more than one or twice a week during that time (most of the time, she was rollersetting early in the salon every day)

No, it's not me. I haven't had my hair that length since 1999.

It's not the heat that's the problem, it's the manipulation and combing and rolling.

If your hair is strong enough to hold up to all that manipulation I say go ahead, but I would recommend mayne 1-2 times a week at most. You could try cheat sets on the other days.
