Happy New Year everyone! I haven't posted this year, I don't think. I've been trying not to stay on the forum soooo much. Anyway, there may be a thread on this already, but I searched and couldn't find it. But my question is for the 4a/4b ladies. I am (fairly) new to trying to care for my natural hair, and I wanted to know what do you do to your hair at night? Since I BC'd about a month ago, I've been wearing mainly coils, but I did my hair myself and two-strand twisted it...which took FOREVER, and if I took it loose to wear the next day, I can't imagine doing that all over again every night. My hair, however, shrinks completely up and flattens out at night after I sleep on it. I usually spray it with Palmer's olive oil and wrap a satin scarf and then put a satin bonnet on top. I would like to know in particular what you do for your hair, those of you who wear a twist-out for more than one day at a time. Thanks in advance!

I just cover my hair at night. If it's a twistout I wear a bonnet. Anything else I usually just wear a scarf. That's it.

For a defined twistout that lasts I wear my twists for several days, usually rinse or cowash them, then twistout. At night to keep the twist out stretched I put my hair in ponytails then put on my silk scarf. As soon as I get up in the morning I take off my scarf to give my hair a change it plump up. You might have to retwist in bigger sections (on moistened hair) if the ponytails don't work. :spinning:

I just twist my hair up at night and but a scarf on...if i feel it needs some moisturizer, then I put it on while twisting hair up...

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about a ponytail..that's a good idea. That will probably work better for me when I get more length. I can't get my hair in ponytails right now. Your hair is beautiful by the way. I peeped out our fotki. :)

I just tie my scarf at night and moisturize and fluff with my fingers in the morning my twistouts last for about 5 days but I don't really care about definition after day 3.

I just bc'ed a month ago so I'm still learning, but I moisturize (Karen's Body Beautiful's hair milk or Miss Jessie's Buttercreme) and seal with WGO tell cover with a bonnet. Since it's winter I'm thinking I should start using a leave-in too for extra protection. Just dreaming about a big bodacious fro......

I too moisturize at night with either Humectress or Giovanni Direct leave in and Seal with pure Coconut oil

Hmmm...I think I should maybe start moisturizing at night as well. I don't think the olive oil spray counts as "moisturizing" does it? I think too much moisture will make my hair shrink even more though. (?) Also, I've heard a lot of talk about Lacio Lacio. Does anyone know where I could find that? Along with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding? (or something like that) Thanks for all the replies!

BUMP BUMP!

Coconut oil is on my "try next" list. I just tried shea butter and it worked out okay for me, but I wanna see how the coconut oil will do.
