These are what my ends look like when they are left to do their 'thing' after a rollerset and before being stretched (taken the same day as the pics in my siggy). Wth is this mess? what do i do? Am i supposed to cut or trim this uneven thing or let it grow? I can not go out in public like this! Opinions/advice/stories from similar sufferers are welcome! TIA

P.S. I bun daily - have since way before the boad, but my buns have gotten loser with better pony tail holders since the board. I am transitioning. I use aveda and aubrey organics. clarify with mizani. Just got bounless tresses. moisturize with jane carter, use aloe vera gel or miss jessies buttercreme to slick back hair....i think thats it. Oh, and my last trim was in May. Dusted in November.

If you just did a rollerset u may not have smoothed the hair down enough and it may not be wet enough. I saturate and detangle my hair and then comb thru with a small tooth and then place on roller. My fotki (DEC album) shows how I do this. HTH

I don't know how your doing the sets. But you have to be careful with your hair because imo rollersets can sometimes make your hair situation worse. I was rollersetting and losing balls of hair, I have gone back to the blow dryer where I am not losing balls of hair.

So be careful. and Yes dry fully and make sure to smooth ends down. If after doing that and you are still seeing your hair messed up you may want to stop rollersetting. Also make sure to put a leave in or split end serum on your ends before rollersetting. I put una bomba intensive leave in conditioner on my ends only it is supposed to be good for split ends, it does work too and smells very nice.

wow ur hair looks AWESOME in ur siggy. the shine! and its soooo even. I went to the dominicans to rollerset and then wrap right away. I know blowdrying is like DEATH to some heads here, so how do you manage to keep it in such shape? how often do you blowdry.

Thanks! i had the salon do it, so i guess i should be more mindful of HOW she does it before i come to any conclusions. Im scared to put any direct heat on my hair, but i guess i will have to soon to figure out if its really jacked up or not :lachen:

so is the consensus that its ok to keep it uneven (even w/out straightening it, its obvious its uneven) or should i cut? would it effect my growth retention to just keep it as is?

It depends. If its uneven because it is damaged, I would cut it. I held on to damaged ends before and every time I moisturized my hair I had so many little broken hairs. But once I trimmed, the breakage stopped. If its uneven but not damaged, I wouldn't cut it unless I really wanted it to look neat.

THANKS! Happy New Year! woo hooo
