The mom and I bought a gift set yesterday at Walmart (50% off). It's supposed to "repair, smooth, and protect all hair types." Anybody used it? I'm in a cornrow style right now so I haven't used it, but I was wondering if its any good. My suitemate, whose Indian, uses a Biosilk product when she straightens her hair but I'm not sure if its this one.

:barf: Sorry, but that's just IMHO!! It had too much alcohol in it for me. After I bought it, found out that CHI Silk Infusion is the same product but without the alcohols drying effects.

i agree, i used this before i started taking care of my hair and it dried my hair out tremendously. i didn't like it at all.....the chi silk infusion is way better :)

Shake it and it will be fine. If the alcohol scares you, just leave the top open for a while (without shaking it) and the alcohol will evaporate. With all the cones in the product, it really doesn't matter. I was skeptical when they added alcohol, but after using it for months, I realized it does the same job. CHI Silk Infusion does a better job, but Biosilk is just the cheaper version from the same company.

I think a lot of people go on and on about how this and that is bad for your hair, when in reality it is usually just from using it wrong, hearing from someone who used it wrong, or it just not working for them. For example: Cones, heat, mineral oil... people will tell you not to try them and that they're bad, but you really have to do it for yourself.

yup! Totally agree! This product really helped my hair a ton while I was in college, it thickened it up and everything. I got my whole family hooked.

Yeah I use to love it b/c it made my hair really soft but it does dry your hair out but the oil I use to use it just for shine and to blowdry my hair but strangly to say I went to a Hair Salon called Harlems in Yeadon,PA and all they used was biosilk and women had hair down to their butts even the owner Harlem.

I used Biosilk Silk Strate yesterday. It's suppose to be a temporary straightner for course hair. Well, i love how my hair looks. It made it look...straighter! I don't see any alcohol in this.

I use it when I wear my hair in a wrap. To me, it makes my hair silky and it adds shine. At one point, I thought that it might have been drying my hair out, but I honestly think that it was probably shomething else.

Oooh! That is some good stuff too! I bought Silk Strate like 5 years ago and didn't think I had a use for it. Well now i mix it with Silk Therapy before I do my rollersets and when I blowdry (only a little because too much can make your hair hard). It smells good and makes my hair get straight just like it said it would. Even if I airdry my rollersets my hair comes out soft and straight with no trouble. Im glad I never threw it out because its become one of my favorites.
