Ive tried many and ended on Chi silk infusion,, its not intended as a heat protectant though... but its the best thing ive used,, only thing i cant stand is that it always builds up on the flat iron and i have to wipe it during use but all in all i havent found anything better and a a little goes a longggg way so its not expensive ...i believe it has ceramic in it if u check the ingredients,, lol i really hope thats safe ,, it concerned me a little:ohwell:

I am also considering going from my faithful biosilk serum to chi as a heat protector, but I want to make sure it's actually providing the protection!

ps. is it true you only need to put a little bit on your hair? Even if you're natural?

I love chi as well, but its a shame that I couldnt find it here in the UK. I had to order it from a german website and paid almost $50 (approx pound equivalent) for a 6oz bottle. I'm trying out an alternative in fantasia IC or perhaps keracare silken serum. I heard great reviews about both. Hope those alternatives help!

ETA: Redken Heat Glide gets great reviews as well!

I disagree, it was formulated specifically for use with ceramic irons. :)
It was actually meant to replace biosilk b/c of the alcohol issue.

Chi is one of the best products, but there is also Nexxus Heat Protexx, and Fantasia IC Heat Protector Serum (pink bottle) just to name a couple.

I use CHI on dry hair. It is the best thing I've ever used.
I'm not sure if it is a heat protectant though.

I use chi on my hair dry and wet. When I roller set it use about a quater size amount in my hair roller set and then saran wrap. I use a smaller amount when I use it on dry hair but I put it on brush my teeth then flat iron or curl my hair and I never have build up on my flat iron or culer.:lick:

And yes it is a heat protectent, the best around for my hair. I like to get it on sell at JCPenny, last time I got a 6oz bottle from JCP 1/2 off.:yep:

actually upon examination of the bottle i noticed that nowhere does it say its intended for use as a heat protector:ohwell::perplexed, works as one though lol

Navesdega (sp)? gave an excellent "tutuorial" about not using protectants with oil in it and raved about CHI. She mentioned something about how the first three ingredients must have "cones" in it to cancel out the heat damage and that anything with oil in it will fry your hair like chicken. Do a search on the threads she actually started or posted, there is a wealth of info there.

True, the product is intended for more than just protection. It is meant for reconstruction and improving strength/integrity of the hair. The product is meant for consumers who use "ceramic, infrared, ionic" heat on a regular basis, though. I guess the actual heat protection it provides is a bonus :)

Co-signing on the Chi Silk Infusion! It's the best I've used so far.

Navesgeda, a former member, really broke down the science of how CSI works. And it is for heat protection.

ETA: I use it sometimes without heat as a straight up leave-in and it's good for that. CSI multi-tasks!

I love the CHI silk infusion, but I prefer not to use it alone. I use it with Fantasia IC Straightening Serum. I just put a bit of each in my hand and apply it. I just did not like the CHI alone.

Yeah, I use Nexxus Heat Protexx and it works well on my hair but one thing that I have to say about it is it costs alot for a little bottle. I think it costs about $12.

A bad heat protectant is Let's Jamm.:nono:

For an inexpensive straightening product I like:

Fantasia Moisturizing Shine Serum

This product keeps your hair super soft, never sticky, shiney, highly protected, smooth, sleek, and bouncy.

And It smells great too!

Girl since when is that stuff protection from anything! :lachen:
When I was younger, it used to be the bomb for me to slick down styles overnight without hardening, but I would never use it with heat!

No, but it actually claims to be a heat protectant!:nono: See, .

I guess I learned my lesson! Oh, and one of the ingredients is Borax as it the acid that can kill insects from the inside out and burn the skin of human beings.:perplexed

i have fantasic ic heat protectant spray . i dont like it .my old stylist used to use chi on my hair before flat ironing and I too agree, that it works well.

bumping, cause i know there are more out there :)

Hey cutie martie,if you want to get some more chi silk, check out http://www.haarshop.nl. costs about £10.17 for a 50ml bottle, and shipping cost is ok too.

I had a merchandise credit for Ulta so I picked up a tube of CHI Nourish Intense Silk Hair Masque, plus the 44 Iron Guard and 6oz bottle of the Silk Infusion. I'll let you all know how it/they work.
