I finally did it! I put S-curl on my hair before I did my rollerset. :) I feel so brave. I will let you know how it comes out.

:lachen:Ive been wanting to do something like this. Are you airdrying or going under the dome?

I always thought that it would dry hard or weird under a dome dryer, and airdryed it would leave hair kind of limp because it has so much moisture in it that would weigh hair down.

How much did you use? Did you use anything else?

I will be interested to see how that turns out.

I have used s-curl to plow through NG during this transition and it works, but I have only rollerset my hair once on my own during this past 10 months b/c it's such a pain to deal with. (I used to rollerset all the time when I was getting relaxed regularly). I never thought to use it to do a rollerset.

When your hair dries, please give us an update!

I was too afraid to dry it under a hood dryer. I was going to, but I chickened out. Maybe if a former jehri curl wearer can confirm that heat is okay w/S-curl, I'll get the courage. Or, maybe I'll call the company. But I mean, all of those jehri curl wearers couldn't have been wash and go wearers back in the 80s, right? :scratchch Maybe they were. I dunno.

Well, anyway, it cam out kind of nice. Usually, if I just airdry my rollersets, my hair doesn't come out as smooth as it does when I put some heat on it.
Airdrying a rollerset w/S-curl is definately better than airdrying a rollerset w/o it.

I like this. I think that rollersetting w/heat wasn't exactly the best thing for my hair. :nono: I mean it kept my hair strong I guess.... and it kept the ends from splitting... and it helped me reach brastrap. BUT, it didn't keep it soft and it didnt help the elasticity or the shine. I think airdrying w/rollersets will give me better results for overall hair health.

Here is what happened. I was afraid to just rub S-curl all over my head and then rollerset b/c I wasn't sure if that would make it harder for me to comb through my hair w/a fine tooth comb. So, I started by putting it on each individual section after I combed through it w/my fine toothed comb. Then, when I got to the back section and the back sides, I realized that it would be safe to just rub the S-curl all over and I did that and then finished rollersetting.

I took out the rollers before my hair was completely dry which is a big no-no for rollersetting, but I hate sleeping w/those hard things in my hair. It was almost completely dry though so it didn't frizz. :)

The next morning, my hair was smooth like it would be from a rollerset, but it had a different kind of bounce. It's so hard to explain, but I am definately going to keep doing it. I'm going to play around w/the amount of S-curl I use too so that I can create different looks. It's the end of the day and my hair still is kind of wavy. :) I think I could create a nice wet and wavy look w/it if I use smaller rollers. It will probably look more natural than a twist out or a braid out.

I don't really know what else to say, but I am excited about the results. Feel free to ask me any questions. ;)

Not really worthless but, if you have some pictures and don't mind sharing it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for trying it and posting your experience :yep:

So how has it held up since yesterday? I keep thinking that the hair would not be able to hold alot of curl with the scurl, and that it would have a slightly damp sweated out look to it....was that true?

How do you think it would look if you wrapped it after you took the rollers out? I keep thinking that there would be no shape, that it would just be as if you airdryed your hair straight with sucrl in a ponytail....

You must have to be fairly lighthanded with this stuff when using it for a rollerset. When i use Scurl and Carefree type products, i use like two handfulls all over my head. Did you use like a drop on each section?

Yes, S-Curl definitely works for making new growth more manageable. Not sure about using it during a rollerset because I like my rollersets to be very fluffy and light.:look:

I keep thinking that the hair would not be able to hold alot of curl with the scurl, and that it would have a slightly damp sweated out look to it....was that true? It held the curl. :yep: It still has a slight wave to it kind of like a body wave. It doesn't have a damp sweated out look to it at all. :nono: The hair is dry, but it has a very very light damp feel to it. You can't tell by looking at it though and it doesn't feel slimey when you touch it at all.

How do you think it would look if you wrapped it after you took the rollers out? I keep thinking that there would be no shape, that it would just be as if you airdryed your hair straight with sucrl in a ponytail.... I'm not sure how it would look if I wrapped it after. It would probably look similar to a regular roller-wrap, but maybe with more bounce and body. There is definately shape right now. I didn't wrap it though. It's like the S-curl made my hair hang on to the curl. It's not like it I just airdried if straight w/S-curl b/c it is smooth and the ends are sealed.

Did you use like a drop on each section? I used a drop on each section on the sides of my hair. For the back part, I rubbed maybe like a quater-sized amount, then I just rollerset the whole section (I'm trying to remember if I rubbed a quater sized amount in once or twice. :scratchch )
HTH! My answers are in bold print.

My hair is not heavy or weighed down. It's only a little different than my hair comes out when I rollerset w/o S-curl.
