Don't do it. When I was a teenager that was what was being used in my hair and all it did was cause problems. Many of the stylists I went to said it's a cheap product and that it's no good. My hair was under processed a lot of the time and it lead to breakage. And I ended up having to get a corrective relaxer later on to fix it. There are better relaxers out there on the market. I would suggest Mizani or Affirm. I've also heard great things about the Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Relaxer but I have not tried that one myseld.

Here....here....
I used Motions and it left my hair way undeprocessed too:wallbash:. Breakage came later:sad:. Last time I used it was 4 years ago. I only like their CPR product but their relaxer products don't cut it. I found Mazani relaxer yesterday at a few beauty stores locally and on ebay. If possible give something else a try: Mizani, Vitale, Elasta Qp (Lye relaxers). Here is a site to visit. Maybe you'll find a better relaxers: http://stores.ebay.com/ingBeautyCom_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm

You're right. Their at home shampoos and conditioners and the foaming wrap lotion are good inexpensive products that you can find anywhere. But that relaxer? :nono: If your hair is thicker, Affirm is a good choice. It worked well in my hair and kept it healthy but found that with my hair being fine, it thinned it out too much for my liking.. My hair did best with Mizani (the mild version for fine hair). My mom has had Affirm in her hair for years though and it's very healthy. Her hair is about APL with layers and color now. She'll probably be cutting again soon.

My stylist has used Motions on my hair for the past 8 years and she does a good job with the application of it and it does well on my hair when she applies it.

Having said that though, if I had my choice I would use a relaxer other than Motions. It is okay but not spectacular. Before going to my current stylist, I tried just about every relaxer known to man- from Bantu (YUK!) :nono: to Hawaiian Silky and Mizani and beyond. I loved Affirm and my personal favorite was the PCJ that I used to get back in the day (I'm pretty sure it was lye b/c my hair doesn't do no-lye).

Anyway, I agree with other posters that there are better relaxers out there than Motions.

I have thin hair and I always found that I had to relax more often (i.e. 4-6 weeks) when I used Motions.

I use the Motions Oil Moisturiser Relaxer and I like it. I am due for a relaxer and was just thinking these past few days as to whether or not I want to try something different. But I have been using it for the past 6 years with success, I even add protein conditioner (Nexxuss Emergencee) to it and it has been great. I just hear so many raves about other relaxer that I want to try another one.
I have tried the ORS Olive Oil Relaxer and it tore my scalp up, I had the itchies for weeks. It looked really good for a couple of days but after that, i had to wash every other day to keep the itchies at bay. I wouldn't try that one at all.
But overall I don't have a negative thing to say about Motions, it has worked well for me over the years.

I recently rexlaxed my hair with Motions and it left me underprocessed. I'm going to throw the rest of it away. I'm switching to Mizani.

I use Motions Herbal Salon Reg. / Mild and have been using it strictly for 3 years, except when I wanted to try a no-lye (never again and it was ORS no lye)!
I am a DIY relaxer and I like it! However, now that I have a length and do it myself the first year I didn't - the past 2 relaxer it would burn and I would have to get it out (can't handle that feeling) and it has been underprocessed in the front.
I have been thinking of tryin ORS lye or Mizani though...too afraid to switch.
I barely get any breakage with my motions relaxer.... :ohwell: so my hair must like it or something.

Tried Motions, "Hated it!"

I remember not liking it but I don't remember too many specifics.

I do remember that my hair was due for a relaxer shorter than normally. It felt as if it had reverted or something. I think it might have left me a little dry feeling. I don't remember having breakage though.

Whatever it was, I didn't pick it up again. I don't recommend it. Even Precise did me better than Motions. I'm now an ORS user though.
