Not breakage where the strands are breaking. I'm talking long hairs failing out from the scalp with the bulp attached.

Did the garlic and oil/water really help?

I really don't know yet....When I was washing out the garlic from my hair, STRANDS WERE STILL FALLING OUT...and in the two days to follow. But I got my hair flat ironed on Tuesday and so far no hair has shedded.

The results for me were amazing after the 3rd wash with my crushed garlic (7-10 cloves) and 2oz evoo mix. I heated it in the microwave oven for a few seconds and put it on my scalp for 30 minutes each time. We can never get rid of shedding altogether because this is a natural process our hair goes through but we can reduce the amount of shed hair at one time.

YES! Depending on how severe the shedding is, it may take more than one try. It stopped my shedding completely. :) I used it as a prepoo. I heated 5 cloves of garlic and olive oil together in a bowl in the microwave. I applied it to my hair and let it sit for half an hour to an hour w/a plastic baggy on top and a towel over the bag.

It worked for me. When i did it i steeped i think 4 or 5 smashed cloves in a cup of evoo for 2 days and used it as a pre poo.
I only did it once but my next wash there was far lesssss shed hair

Next time i'll put the oil and garlic in my slow cooker and store it in my small fridge and use it once every week to two weeks

Hmmm okay. Thanks!

And yeah that sounds good. I might do the same.

Last night I placed about 7 cloves in a blender and mixed. Then placed that liquid in a pointy nosed bottle and applied to scalp (post shampoo). Left it on 1.5 hr. Shampood out (hair only, did not shampoo scalp only rinsed scalp).

I let it dried overnight.

I will condition and roll today.

I'm going to do this for 4 wks straight and see how it affects it.

What about the smell?

Does the smell last long after shampooing?

TIA

I've done several treatments with the crushed garlic and evoo and once I shampooed, the smell went away immediately. Trust me when I say it is worth the temporary smell to see my hair shedding slow down the way it does when I use this mixture. I prefer the smell for an hour or two than to helplessly watch my hair shed profusely for days.

How frequently do you use the galic/evoo mixture?

How frequently do you use the galic/evoo mixture?

Only when there are excessive shedding. Shedding is a normal hair process and when I see a few, I'm fine but if I see about 15 or 20 daily, I go into panic mode and whip out my garlic and evoo even though it's normal to shed about 50-100 hairs a day. I feel if I lose that many hair a day, I'll have a very thin head of hair in a couple of weeks:sad:. I simply can't afford that:nono:.

Alter Ego worked for me. I would never expect to have zero shedding as that would be abnormal. I am going to try making my own garlic oil sometime.

I just purchased some garlic extract (still smells of garlic) .

I will add this to my homemade leave-in & see what happens.

I hope the slight garlic odor will wear off after a few hours.

Thanx for the other responses.

I love the the homemade garlic treatments!

it is cheap and easy.... and it works... - need coffee..................

So garlic helps with shedding, but does it help with growth?

I got some garlic oil and started applying it a couple of weeks ago. I must say that the shedding has decreased tenfold. I will be adding fresh crushed garlic into the bottle to increase its potency though. Thanks for the tips.

How are you applying the oil?? Do you wash it out after?

This is what I wanna know too! I'm like an inch or two past brastrap and I'm trying to reach midback in the back and like 3 inches past brastrap in the front/sides, which means I want like an inch a month. :dizzy:

Questions
  1. does the garlic oil smell?
  2. how often did you apply?
  3. where did you purchase it from?
  4. Was it expensive?
Because using the garlic water is very very tangling (HINT HINT ladies, rub some detangling conditioner on the ends) the garlic oil would not. And wouldn't be as messy either. Let me know...

Oh ladies my first week, it worked wonders !!! :yep:
The second time I did it...well lets just say I've been up to late and my hair was falling out due to that do, it's a major set back. I guess it can't help stupidy. But I did it anyway. I'll tell you guys how it works the 3rd week....

So when you have the garlic cloves in the oil, what do you do just "grease" the scalp with the oil? How do you do the oil thingy?

i feel like i smelled for noting. i used garlic shampoo though for shedding but it smelled so much my mother yelled at me. plus i dropped it in the drawer that i used to keep my hair stuff so my draw smelled like garlic for some time.. it was just too smelly. would taking supplements do the same thing?
