Bone straight ladies...are you able to stretch longer?

Yes, I was relaxed bone straight not by choice.. she relaxed my hair from root to tip :perplexedin May of this year. I have only telaxed the very front edges since then but the rest of my head has not been touched by a relaxer since then and there is no need for one other than newgrowth which is nice and wavy :).

It's hard to say since I've never been texlaxed, but I find it difficult.

There distinction between the new growth and the relaxed hair is just so different. If you don't want to use heat there's really little ways to wear a straight style. For my transition/long stretches I wear my hair in braidouts or other styles with texture so the difference between the NG and the relaxed hair isn't so different.

Hi Gymfreak...now that I use a lye relaxer I can stretch longer. I've always relaxed bone straight even when I used a no-lye relaxer; but I could not stretch long at all when I was using a no-lye relaxer.

I know I gave you more than what you ask for but I thought I should add a lye relaxer helps me stretch longer...:yep:

Thanks Mzcris...I don't know what to do. Check my latest journal entry to see my problem.

Yes, I think it's MUCH easier to stretch when relaxed straight. When I used ORS relaxer, it left my hair really underprocessed and I wanted to relax again after 4 weeks because my hair looked so bad so quick. When it's relaxed straight, it looks better longer and it's easier to handle, so I can stretch longer

I don't know for sure, but I would think that people with texlaxed hair would have an easier time stretching, since the difference between the NG and the texlaxed parts aren't that different. I always wait three months before I get a relaxer, and I don't find it difficult to stretch at all as long as I don't bother the NG and comb my hair only on the days I wash it and only when it has conditioner in it. Also it helps when I keep my hair bunned while I have NG because it helps me not to tamper with my hair too much, which can lead to breakage. But, all in all, I'd say that both relaxed and texlaxed people can stretch for equal amounts of time, you just have to be very careful while doing it.

I agree with ccmuffingirl. I would expect that the greater difference between the unrelaxed and relaxed textures of hair, the harder stretching would be. That being said, the difference between my 4a newgrowth and my straight areas gives me a fit!!!!:wallbash:
