Have you ever flatironed then couldn't wait to be "natchal" again?

I just washed and straightend on Sunday and I can't wait to get some water on my head and go back to my natchal hurr. Nutz huh? :spinning: Anyone else feel like that sometimes. How long do you usually wear your hair straightened (4 days, a week, 2 weeks)?

Nope you're not nuts at all I used to feel the same way. As my hair gets longer and it's just a swangin:grin:, I want to keep it straight longer than the usual 1 week. So now whe I straighten I shampoo after week 2 :yep:.

Yeah it is the strangest thing!!!!!

well i'm not natural, but i can kinda relate.

i'm 9 weeks post, and i've got these gorgeous, perfectly defined 4a coffee-stirrer sized coils... and it makes me sad to relax them straight :perplexed (i want to go natural, but i'm not comfortable going through the big chop.)

but i get happy again when i'm a month post, and i can see them starting to re-emerge

Pookie we may be hair twins judging by your sig. Is your hair thick in density but the strands are fine/medium in diameter? Is your hair "fluffy" and not "heavy" as in doesn't have a lot of weight to it?

I know you weren't addressing me but this is exactly how I'd describe MY hair :yep:

i KNEW IT!!! Your hair looks just like mine when i straighten. I too have a lot of strands but my hair isn't heavy at all :perplexed Very lightweight and fluffy

When I go to an event for my husband (high school reunion, wedding on his side of the family, etc.) because he prefers it straight, I will usually get my hair flat ironed. But I cannot wait to wash it afterwards and go back to my curls and waves. I don't even recognize myself anymore when my hair is straight. I don't feel like myself, I don't feel natural. And I don't care how much I paid to get it done, I will wash it as soon as we get back or the event is over!

I used to wear my hair straight 4/7, but since i've been transitioning and keeping my hair in twists and braids, I only wear my hair straight maybe 4-5 days out of a month. I only straighten it to check growth progress. Another reason I don't straighten it as often is I wash/coWash more often. I CoWash maybe 2-3 a week and Shampoo/Cond on the week ends.

I cannot be the only person this happens to. Thank God. But my hair starts to revert in minutes even if its flat ironed and even when the Dominicans got to it by the time I walked home it was already drawing up on the sides and back.
My hair plain doesnt like any state other than its own natural state:wallbash:

oh well!

This is how I felt the last time I straightened my hair. I wanted to wash it the very next day. I had to force myself to keep away from wetting my head for 2 weeks. It was torture. The whole time I was paranoid that my hair would not revert back (Which some parts did not). I even had a nightmare about it....scary!

Your hair is beeyoutifull. What length are you at now when stretched? Brastrap?

Aye! :lachen:

I just blew mine out and it didn't even last a whole 24 hours.

I don't think it's that I cannot wait, but these naps cannot wait.:perplexed

All the time. :yep: I'm usually over the straight hair the next day. That's why I wig it most of the time when I want straight hair. I always say I'm gonna keep it straight 2 weeks but usually end up washing after a week.

Me to a "T". I haven't gone two weeks since I don't know when. Plus I excersize usually 4 or 5 days a week so my hair is all sweaty so no need to straighten. I am on excersize break until Saturday and I am trying my hardest to keep my hair straight through Saturday morning (less than 1 whole week )

Thanks Bre Bre-

My hair is presently armpit length stretched I had to cut 2 inches cause of going to a Domincan salon that used fine tooth combs and tons of heat:lachen:. my goal is lower bra-strap stretched. Wish me luck . Starting the new year I'm going to henna- well cassia actually and start an ayurvedic program thanks to member Osmane and hopefully I'll get there. Saw your pics- Keep up the good work!!

I hear this calling me thread loud and clear.

11/02 (night) - flatironed and pincurled for family pictures on the 3rd.
11/03 (day) - wore it.
11/04 - slapped in some deep conditioner and marinated in that overnight.
11/05 - back to regularly scheduled programming.

Less than 48 hours, is that a record?

:lachen:

Awww... I haven't been natural since I was 14... I don't even remember how it was. I want to transition so bad, but I'm scared for some reason.
I also still need to figure out what texture my hair is- but I love every coil, wave, groove, curl and spiral you guys have in your hair! It's beautiful! When I get a lot of newgrowth, I can't stop playing with it because it feels so darn nice. Shoot, I may rub all my hair out once I finally go natural due to playing in it!
