Many say that oils can't moisturize, but I beg to differ with a few.

Jojoba oil is my staple moisturizer. It is really not an oil; apparently it is really a wax.

Apricot kernel oil molecules are small enough to penetrate hair. I think avocado oil does the same.

All 3 of these make my hair feel soft, smooth, and supple aka moisturized!

From my understanding of what I've read on here, oil doesn't moisturize, it seals in moisture. So you would have to put the moisture on before you seal with whatever oil. If someone reads this and I'm wrong, please correct me, thanks =)

I use Nababb's Kelechi oil (google search)

It does help me in the moisture department!

I do still use water based moistuizers, but the oil really does take it over the top and helps my hair maintain optimum moisture.

I guess its person by person. I've seen a couple of people say that certain oils moisturize their hair *shrugs*

But IMO for your hair to get moisturized, water needs to be delivered into your hairshaft.
IMO oils are very usefull in making your hair more smooth, shiny ect. and the ones that penetrate like coconut oil achieve that the best, while others just sit on top of the hair.
When you wet your hair or moisturize it,then use a oil i think certain ones work better than other *another shrug*

I dont know about castor oil though? Anyone have an opinon on that? I know its a hummecant so it will attract moistrue from the air---I know if i use it with nothing else, my hair feels really soft and moisutrized as if i had used a glycerin moisturizer---but im nost sure.

Co-signing!!! Jojoba oil definitely acts as a moisturizer for my hair, too. And makes it feel super soft.

I was wondering...do you need to use several different types of oils or can you just find one or two that works well for you and stick to these??

I only have two staple oils that I use to seal in moisture. I use coconut oil when I wear my hair down and castor oil for updos.

I have a little concoction that I have mixed together for my hair. I mixed

1oz of cinnamon oil
1oz of castor oil
1oz of avocado oil
1oz of rosemary oil
1oz of almond oil

I have it mixed in a bottle that I use on my hair. I can say it makes it really soft, but very oilly.

Hairobics hair oil or Hairobics detangling oil work well. The same applies to Africa's Best Herbal Oil Complex. I heard Wonder 8 Gensing oil and Hot 6 oils work fine, too.

Then there are so many other oils such as almond, avocado, olive, coconut, jojoba, etc., that can be added to the hair.

Ladies, what are the properties of Cinnamon Oil? Is it an EO that must be diluted? How is the smell?

I've never tried to use just oil to moisturize since I've heard so many say that it can't alone :look:. But, I use Jojoba, avocado and sweet almond as a hot oil pre poo the night before washing . I may experiment with these oils individually to see how they work for moisture.
