No Commitment Highlights -- Hair Mascara Review

I've been reading a lot of threads about color and highlights. I've had color before and it just ate through my hair but all those threads had me tempted. Luckily, I came across Frederic Fekkai's Hair Mascara in gold. It's not the same as having professional highlights but it's enough of a change that I'm no longer tempted.

The product is a brush-in, wash out temporary color that comes in a tube with a wand that is just like a mascara brush. It costs $20.

Has anyone else tried this?

oh wow, i remember hair mascara!
i used to use it all the time in middle school, when i went through my "i want blue and pink hair" phase.
but i had the little girl kind from Limited Too that smelled like candy, and i remember it only being about $4.

the blonde looks pretty, but i can't see myself shelling out $20 for... anything! i'm broke right now, lol

How does it work? Just apply on dried hair then flatiron as usual? How many applications do you think one tube will get ya?

I've seen these at Sally's . I used to use these back in the day too, but if I remember correctly my hair would be kind of crunchy where I brushed in the color?

haha, i remember the crunchiness. and the kind i bought had all kinds of huge pieces of glitter in it that would take FOREVER to get out... and that was back in the day when ma only washed my hair 1x a week. eww.

does the fekkai brand leave your hair crunchy?

i don't think it would be a good idea to apply before flat-ironing. it's a brush-on color you slap on after styling and what not. else you'll end up like this: :burning:

I got it at Sephora. It didn't make my hair crunchy although the higlighted part was not as shiny as the rest of my hair.

I was too lazy to re-do my hair and wanted to try the product out. So, I applied to dry hair that had already been styled. I just stroked it through strands of hair from root to tip, waiting a minute for it to dry a little, then brushed it to blend.

It does look natural. I've always wanted highlights but not the damage that comes with.

Your hair is very pretty, the streaks and the natural color.
When I was younger I put actual mascara in my bangs and I went outside thinking I was all cute, I kept sweeping them behind my ear and I looked down at my hand and the whole chunk I put it on had came out was between my fingers.

Thanks ladies for the compliments. I do love my natural hair color but every once in a while I want something different. I'd really like copper highlights to match my own color better but can't figure out how to get it done without damage.

I don't dye my hair so that's my natural color in the pics. The flash from the camera makes my hair look brighter in the pics than it is in real life.

Yes your color is very pretty and you are making me want to take a trip to sephora. For me color+relaxer=breakage, and the mascara looks really pretty and real with your natural color.

Evazhair -- They have the tester on display at Sephora and they will open up a new one for you or give you a new/clean wand if you want to test it first.

Your hi-lites look very natural and pretty. I tried a gold one from sally's (about $4) and they do work. I may have to whoop it out from New Years or something to have a littel Pizzaz!
