I don't have relaxed hair but something tells me you should relax, then henna... and maybe not even immediately after relaxing, though I don't really see what it would hurt.

I would think your hair would be resistant to a relaxer after using henna since henna coats the strands. JMO. HTH.

I am talking about hennaing virgin hair and then relaxing it a week or so later.

I don't see where it would hurt since relaxed hair is already processed and virgin hair isn't. As always though I would do a strand test if I were you. Save up some hair from your combs and test each process on it before you do it on your hair. That way you can see how your hair takes the henna, then relax the already hennaed hair sample to see how it reacts to both. It takes time but it is worth it.

Edie, to just share my experience with you, I did a henna treatment 1 week before my last relaxer. My stylist spent more time smoothing the relaxer in than he has in all of the 4 years I have gone to him. That experience taught me that in the future, it is best for me to use henna during the first 4 weeks after a relaxer, and then to avoid putting henna on my NG. HTH

Wow, I am sorry that happened to you. I have never had that happen. I guess everyone's hair reacts differently.

Yes. I wait at least two weeks after I henna to relax, and I wait about a month or so after relaxing to henna my hair.

I read that you can use mineral oil to remove henna from your hair. You leave it only for half an hour then shampoo out. Have any of you tried this?
I had my first cassia treatment last week. Turned out great. Hair soft and seems to hold moisture more and has added strength. I like the strengthening and conditioning properties of henna. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to start relaxing again. So hopefully when I do, I can do so safely, in spite of the henna. Right now I am just concentrating on the health and strength of my hair.

ITA! W/what she said:yep:. Relax then henna
