I tried when I joined in May 07 to meet with the sisters here in AZ but didn't find any takers. Let me know if you have any luck getting more of us together -:)

I'm in AZ.
As far as good salons to go to...it has been sooo long since I have been to one that I would not be of any help there :nono:.
As far as BSS, other than Sally's, there is an African BBS and I believe they do hair there as well. I was in such a hurry when I went in there that I just grabbed my hair and left. I don't know what side of town you're in but they are in Chandler. I know of a couple more but I have to try and remember where they are at.
HTH

:drunk: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! Man - I was feeling SO left out! But I kept seeing busted heads around campus so I figured maybe no one else knew about it! Um..Salons...I went to Balaros II and got my hair braided, she was great, but I heard a male stylist there giving some suspect advice about a jherri curl making your hair grow :look: so uh...no chem chem services for them. DO NOT go to Just About Your Hair salon in Tempe!! :wallbash: I go to Sallys - there's a hair shop called Sunny's in Chandler -- I think it's on Alma School next to a Laser Tag place. I'm going to try Cafe Instanbul in Tempe for Indian products -- I'm in Gilbert now, but I don't know of any markets out my way. At the moment I go to Natures Gate on Elliot ( in chandler ) to get natural oils b/c I've been mixing my own stuff. Since I'm braided up my PJism has been dormant though..Note I said dormant -- not dead. :lachen:

Oh -- has anyone been to that Aveda Salon - Mood on Mill in Tempe?? I was thinking I might go all out for my b-day and I've heard so much about Aveda Institutes and stylists on the board....

I tried finding Natures Gate and I can't pull it up. What is their major cross streets. I would rather buy locally than wait to receive it in the mail.
Thanks

It is on Elliot and Alma School. I think it's the SE corner -- in the plaza with the Fry's -- it's towards the corner of the plaza where Party City is and it's a tiny store. They sell oils, supplements, and natural products. I think this is the info:

Nature's Health Shoppe973 West Elliot Suite 2Chandler, AZ 85224602-821-1986

I was a little off with the name.

Hey I'm here in Mesa! I located a couple of Indian places in Mesa, one on E. Broadway and the other close to MCC.

Asia Bazaar @ 2110 W Southern Suite G (480) 464 9797 and the other is India Spice Land @ 540 West Broadway Road (480) 649 7380. I found this by using google, but haven't called to see if they are still open.

I am in NM and I tried to get a meet up going once but didn't really get any responses. Cafe1 is also in AZ and I met her already. I would love to meet you ladies. AZ is only a short drive from here. Q

Thanks!! Did they have all the powders and stuff??

I'm from AZ, I just moved to boring old OK a few years ago. I sure wish I was still there, it seems like there's more LHCF'ers in AZ than there are in OK. Most of them moved to Texas, Georgia and other places. No one stays here :ohwell:

Hey... Im in az... maybe we should have a meet up in feb. after the holiday season.

I recommend a lady called Artlette... she does only natural hair and does great weave jobs. She is beyond awesome.

P.S. Are you ladies ready for the super bowl? Its coming

Soliel I just found out about them so I don't know what they carry. I do plan on stopping by one day this week.

AZ chick here!

I live way in Surprise, though. :ohwell: And the only salon I go to is the Toni & Guy, in the Arrowhead Mall. (Glendale) My stylist, NiKenya, does a great job, but I only go for trims and to get flat-ironed. I mostly go to her because she has the funkiest natural hair I've ever seen. Shoot, she's the only natural I've seen in all the 3 yrs. I've lived in AZ. Anyway, I don't go there anymore, but I used to go to All About You hair salon in Peoria. They kinda hood in there, but I went to a white lady, Amber, and she did a really good job with my sew-ins. I don't go anymore because 1) I found someone closer, 2) I'm natural, and I don't remember them doing any natural's hair, and 3) they've fired Amber and raised their prices since I've left.

As far as the BSS, I go to Sally's most of the time, but I went to a BSS in Glendale before. I think the name of the place is called K-MoMo; they sell clothes there too. :perplexed Anyway, I don't remember what products they carried, since I was only looking for a wig, but they had a nice sized selection of hair, if anyone is close to the Glendale area.

Toni & Guy...hmm. I hate searching for salons b/c I always have to call and ask if they can do "my kind" of hair. Invariable the answer has been no, so I haven't gone to any "white/non-black" salons. I guess there's always a feeling of wondering how someone who's never had my hair could possibly know how to deal w/ it - but I'm willing to take the plunge. I still think I might go to Mood Swings on Mill for my birthday - I'll self-relax and then go there to be styled....

We should do a meet-up! Drinks in Scottsdale?

Its about time!! Its not like I was actively searching for neighbors, but its refreshing to see fellow LHCFers in my area, sorta. I'm in Tempe. I too am interested in meeting up. Letta sista know when yall tryna get up.

Since yall were talking about Indian stores earlier.... I shop at the 'India Plaza' on Apache & McClintock. Its got vatika oil and Parachute coconut oil. All of you aruyvedic(sp) powders, including henna. Its even got the creamy henna shampoo that was being raved about in another thread. Its my one stop shopping store for all my Indian needs.

I did some shopping @ 'India Plaza' on Apache & McClintock tonight and this is what I purchased:

Mahabhringraj Oil
Cantharidine Oil
Anoop Hair Oil
Silk n Shine hair oil w/fruit & vitamins.

When I checked out the guy said 'very interesting items you have" and stated how well they work.

Earlier today, I went to the store on Southern/Dobson and got:

Amla Powder
Shikakai Powder
Heenara Hair Pack - conditioner & nourisher for hair
Multani Powder - Facial cleanser

My wonderful husband just patiently waited for me :yep:.

I'm excited!

Those Indian Oils and Powders look gooood! Luckily with my hair braided my PJism has died down somewhat. Anyone else rockin the braids for winter? Where did you get them done?
