I know many people don't go by the instructions...How do you use it? I am in need of some protein and I think I am going to pick this up tonight.

How do you use it?
What conditioner do you use afterwards?

I love this protein, it always makes my hair feel relaxed!

I've used it two ways. Most of the time I use it like an Aphogee treatment. I put it throughout my hair, use a blowdyer until my hair is dry, then rinse it out. I find it works the best this way.

Sometimes when I don't feel like doing all that, I just follow the directions. Just massage it in my hair for about 5 minutes, put on a shower cap, then rinse.

I use protein everytime I wash my hair (2x per week).

Most of the time I use Nexxus Keraphix which is a light protein. Every two or three weeks with one of the weekly washes, I use Emergencee instead of Keraphix. For both of these protein treatments, I put the product on my hair, put on a plastic cap, and sit under the dryer for half an hour (ironically, I am sitting under the dryer with Keraphix on my hair right now). I then rinse and follow up with an hour long Nexxus Humectress treatment (under the plastic cap and dryer).

Every eight weeks or so, I break out the heavy duty Aphogee treatment and follow their directions (though I always moisturize for an hour).

Thanks Kiesha. My hair has been feeling funny, not really any breakage but it feels limp and just weird. I feel like I need to wash it like every two days. I think I need protein, I did a light one not long ago but my hair hasn't had anything semi strong in a long time. I am going to try it to see if it makes my hair feel normal again.

Thanks SmartyPants...I love your screen name too.

I apply it then sit under the dryer with no cap on until most of it is hard. then i wash it out and apply a moisturizing conditioner. Those arent the instructions on the bottle. but a member here named melodee, made a thread about using it like aphogee so I started doing that.

If this is the case, you might want to try an emergencee treatment once a week for a few weeks. As long as you follow it up with a moisturizer, it won't hurt your hair. When I was only washing my hair once a week, I used emergencee every time I washed with good results.

I think I might do that. Maybe for the next month. Thanks for the suggestion

The bolded is how I do it. I follow it with the ORS Pak or AO Honeysuckle Rose. I dunno if you'd need it once a week, though. You don't wanna overdo the protein.

I got both of these right now......I don't know what is up with my hair. It looks fine but doesn't feel right to me. I haven't really done any true protein treatments in a long time so maybe that it is it. I hope this emergencee helps. I think I am just going through a rough spot right now. Hopefully by the new year everything will be back to semi normal.

I follow the directions on the bottle. But I have only used it when I relax. If I was using it because I would more than likely use it under a dryer with heat for 15 minutes.

Thanks for all of your input....I used it with heat for about 20 minutes under the dryer. Then I took the plastic cap off and let it harden...about another 5 minutes. I followed it with ORS Replenishing pack.

How did your hair come out? Is it any better?

YES! My hair looks and feels much thicker thanks to the Emergencee and my accidently texlaxed roots  I don't feel like my hair is dirty verses my hair feeling dirty just one day after washing. I think I will use it once every two weeks and just dry it until it hardens instead of how I did it this time. I had to use nearly the whole bottle to cover my head. I still feel like my hair isn't good enough right now. I am contemplating a major cut. I am going to wait until the new year to really make up my mind. If I took some pics, would you mind looking at them and giving me your opinion?

Yay! I'm happy your hair is better. How'd you end up using the whole bottle though? I apply about the same amount as I would if it was conditioner, maybe even less.

Sure you can take the pics, but I don't need them to know you shouldn't cut your hair . It's just your frustration talking. The best thing to do is probably find a simple regimen, some staples you can stick with & stop stressing so much! Seriously, what's cutting gonna do except set you back some more?

I am pretty heavy handed with products...I can go through a whole bottle of aubreys in 3 washes:look:

Your right...I just need to calm down and relax:perplexed My regime is much more simple now than it has been in a while. I haven't seen much length lately but my thickness is on point. Thanks for the pep talk :yep:

Plus, I don't think you can get emergencee in the normal sized bottles anymore. It comes in these little tiny bottles now. I can usually only get about three or four uses out of a bottle.

I use it (nickel size amount) around my crown and nape only during my hot oil mixes!

The amount is enough to not harden but do what it got to do! (keep my edges strong)
