Well, once again I stole this idea from somebody else (Sareca, mentioned it on another thread):

Have any of you tried Ojon products? I have some conditoning spritz that I stole from my mom that is great! I absolutely love it, but I'm down to my last 5 or 6 pumps left (I swear I spray twice and jump in the air to catch some of the mist) and I went to go buy some more, it was $22...on sale!! I'm a poor college student, I have to choose my splurges carefully, so I'm asking:

Have any of you ever used the Ojon products and are they worth the serious amounts of money? I'm talking $25-$60 per product.

*raises hand like a kindergardener..I have!

I use the restorative treatment as part of my hot oil mix.:lick:

I use the Restorative Treatment ($55) and the Ultra hydrating conditioner (forgot the price, but I think it's around $20) and I love them (I'am student too btw). The restorative treatment made my hair so shiny after I put it on my dry hair and left it overnight. I use the Ultra hydrating conditioner as a weekly deep conditioner, it makes my hair feel silky smooth. I haven't tried any other products from Ojon, but I read on another thread that the Rare Harvest products from Ojon are just as good.

I LOVE Ojon! It is a little pricey, but the first time I used the Ultra Hydrating conditioner and shampoo, my hair was shiny and luxurious (those are $22 and $20, respectively)!!

I use the restorative treatment ($55 for the big tub, and I think $21 for the little one) as a prepoo with coconut oil the first couple of weeks after a relaxer (need something stronger after that), and I also use a little dab before I style my hair.

It is worth cost, and the restorative treatment lasts a long time because it is so concentrated. If you still don't want to spend that much for it, ask for an Ulta or Sephora gift card for Christmas! :)

HTH and HHG!

I found the ultra hydrating shampoo and conditioner for like $13 each (plus s&h) on eBay! It was a last minute, spur of the moment thing. I can't wait to try them, after I take my kinky twists out:nono:

I was going to say this too....my coworker ordered it from Ebay, but I can't remember the cost.

okay i've used ojon b4 my hair journey. the results weren't too bad. the only reason why i was able to try all of them was b/c my mom is a fanatic and she spends the money for it. ...so far i've used:

Hydrating Shampoo- drying (which i know now is due to the sulfates)

Hydrating Cond- very decent product; good slip; good moisture

Restorative- hate the smell but used b4 flat ironing and made hair str8 & soft

conditioning mist- not worth the $ for such a small bottle...although it's a good instant moist. boost when ur out and about

sephora had the little mini travel size shampoo & cond for $7 each. Also QVC or QVC.com will sell package deals. that's how my mom buys it

I've been meaning to try the restorative treatment for oil rinsing. Thanks for the reminder. :hug2:

You know, I bought a sampler kit of Ojon products and I have to say that I wasn't all that impressed. I'm guessing that it is my hair type (I am Type 4 - very thick relaxed Type 4). I get better results with my Nexxus and Biolage products. But, I will use up what I bought because, hey, I bought it . . . perhaps mixing it with other products will help.

Glad to hear that so many of you have had success with it, though . . . .

I've used Ojon products since the day it came out and it has never disapointed me. It is definitely worth the money. Yes, it is pricey but the quality is great and it does last forever.

I have used and love the restorative treatment. I got the large jar on ebay for $30. I love the smell of it :lick:.

I really like the restorative treatment and I just ordered the Tawaka rejuvenating cream from qvc, after trying a sample from sephora I fell in love. It really is a great moisturizer for my 4b hair, I had given up on trying to find a moisturizer...so Im completely amazed that this stuff really works. QVC has free shipping on this product and it comes along with small restorative treatment. Its a great buy!!! I cant wait until it arrives...Until then I will be using my sample sparingly.

I haven't used it yet BUT I'm purchasing the Nurturing Ritual Kit tommorow to use on my hair. I'll try to remember to post a review.

I used it on Saturday and my hair LOVED it.

I used the restorative treatment (left it on overnight), washed it out with the hydrating shampoo, and then conditioned with the hydrating conditioner while I took a shower.

Because of the price, I was bery stingy on how much I used but it still left my hair feeling good. My hair felt moisturized and strong at the same time. It's comparable to when I used Aveda's Damage Remedy.

This is good to know!! I'm all for cost management  um-okay, i'm cheap! I want to try the shampoo and conditioner as well since they get such good reviews. And the conditioning spray. so ebay here I come! I'm not going to lay out that kind of money for the hair restorative though. I think adding some ayurvedic elements to a mix of the Ojon ingredients is a better use of the money. It might have less antioxidants than the restorative treatment, but adding some coconut oil will help with that. After reading this review at amazon I decided there was no way I was going to spend all that cash when I could whip something up in the kitchen just as effective for waaaay less!

Here's the review:
If people would just read the label............., April 29, 2007

First, let me list both the pros and the cons of using this hair product.

PROS: 1) The product consists of 95% of all natural ingredients that will benefit your hair much better than those alternative synthetic conditioners found on the cosmetic shelves. 2) It can definitely work on all types of hair - especailly ethnic hair which tends to be on the dry side & therefore would need more emollients.

CONS: 1) Most of the ingredients (see below) that this product is made of can be found at your local health food store or ordered on-line from a herbal supply company at a fraction of the cost that Ojon is requesting. 2) The main ingredient in this product is simply oil. It's the same concept of the "hot oil treatment" but marketed in a different way in order to make Ojon seem more exotic. The fact is that using any oil - e.g. olive oil, coconut oil - will give you the same results.

Now, I am going to break down the ingredients label so that you can see what you are paying for.

Ingredient #1: Elaeis Oleifera is American Palm Oil. It is native to the tropical Central & South Americas and is a very low cost oil (10 cents per oz) so therefore it is widely used in many industries such as food, candles, & cosmetics. It is very emollient & leaves a non-greasy shine to the hair & skin. The entire base of this 5-oz jar is made up of this palm oil, so the cost is estimated to be no more than a total of 50 cents.

Ingredient #2: Lecithin is a natural emollient that is heavily found in egg yolks. It has great conditioning properties & feeds the skin & hair natural carbohydrates. Many local health food stores sell it for about $2 for a 16 oz bottle. A little goes a long way, so for or a 5 oz jar of oil, only 1/4 teaspoon of lecithin is required.

Ingredient #3: Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate, & Citric Acid are types of preservatives that many cosmetic industries are required to use to make sure that the oils do not go rancid. They do not contribute any benefits to the hair - they are only additives to ensure the product stays fresh longer.

Ingredient #4: Serenoa Serrulata (Saw Palmetto Extract), Citronellol (roselike odor derived from citronella oil), Linalool (liquid distilled from certain essential oils) & Parfum (a man-made fragrance) are all used to give this product it's unique "smokey" scent. Since most of this fragrance base is synthetic (& cheap), these ingredients do not contribute that much benefit

Ingredient #5: Prunus Africana. This may be the only ingredient worth paying attention to. It is an herbal extract derived from the bark of an African plant that many men have used to treat prostate illnesses. It has anti-swelling & healing properites. I would predict that this ingredient is added to promote balancing to the scalp, or to add a natural coloring to the oil (as most herbal extracts will do). But, since there is only a miniature amount used in this product, it is highly unlikely that there is enough to add any benefit whatsoever.

Now that I have listed a breakdown of what you are paying $55 for, it is up to you whether you want to try this product or not. It's not a bad product, but it's definitely not the greatest or most original product either to justify paying that much money. My suggestion to you is to go to the local health food store, buy some natural oils & herbs for about $7, and create your own conditioning hair oil. Apply it to your hair the same way that you would apply this Ojon (as a pre-shampoo treatment) and not only will you get the same if not better results, but you will have enough money left over to go towards something more practical.

^^^^And THIS is why I  LHCF!!!

Thank you lady.:yep: Your post made me subscribe to this thread. And YES, I will be heading to my local health food store shortly!

Gotta try it out!

I was going to say -- I saw the QVC commercial and they showed them harvesting the Palm Kernals. I always figured I'd mix up some Palm Oil if I got really curious about the results, but I wasn't paying 20+ for it. I do this with all expensive products -- most of them are based on a few very affective natural oils and extracts.

Ojon is on now on QVC. There is a 4 piece kit for $29.00 if anyone is interested. The kit contains the following:
  • 1.35 oz Restorative Hair Treatment
  • 2-oz Shine and Protect Shampoo
  • 2-oz Shine and Protect Conditioner
  • 2-oz Leave-in Glossing Cream

I'm watching it too! That thickening poo and conditioner ain't no joke! I thinking of sending it to my mom.

Hey Ladies

I've been using these products while home for the holidays (because it's easier to just use the travel-sized kit I bought than to put my regular products in smaller packaging). Although I'm still not super impressed with the shampoo or conditioner, I'm thinking about adding the Revitalizing Mist to my everyday regimen. It's extremely light -I feel as if I have nothing on my hair at all. Yet, my hair feels softer . . . and after reading Cathy Howse this week, I feel like I'm going to be a hair moisturizing fool!

I tried it when it originally came out- cause my family is from Honduras.
For the price of the conditioner- I expected, slip, shine and manageability. Truly I got better results with oils and nut and berries found at FNWL.

I do. I love Ojon, it is one of my favorite hair product lines. I use the restorative treatment, tawaka cream and styling paste. Ojon products are amazing!!!

Interestingly enough, I purchased my first Ojon product yesterday and it was the revitalizing mist. At first I was really impressed. But I'm not anymore and I can't wait to get to a Whole Foods and get some oils and other conditioners. Yesterday I was thrilled, but my hair is too thick for it to do much beyond the first hour. It is not adequate for my thick, natural, 4B hair. And I have to use a ton of the mist just to have good results. That's not good for a $26 product especially when you're already broke.

I LOVE the restorative treatment. It definitely helps me when I'm more than 10 weeks post. After using it, I can actually detangle and bun my hair in the shower. I can't do that with anything else.

Ojon is worth the money!! The whole line, if you can't affort what you want just get the Restorative Treatment you can use it as a hot oil treatment or Pre-poo or as a leave in. Check on QVC you know they have payment plans for thier stuff.

I loooove the Restorative treatment and I just started using the Tawaka Rejuvenating creme and I love that, too. I also use the Revitalizing Mist, the Glossing Cream, and the Hydrating Styling Cream. All are excellent products. As long as I have the money, I have no problem with the price :perplexed.
