Ugh, I can't wait for my color to grow out. After that , no more color. It seems to take forever for it to grow out completely then my hair looks so dry and damaged.

I've never done color because I'm scurred. I almost did highlights in September, but chickened out. Not sure if I'll ever get the nerve...

I say NO to COLOR! Me and one of my friends were actually just talking about this the other day. We noticed that the majority of black girls that have long healthy looking hair have their natural color without hi-lights or color.

I say no to it too, i don't plan on coloring my hair ever again. I dyed it brown one summer and my hair was really dry and it took forever to grow out

I've been ducking the color for awhile now, actually since last January, but I really want some high lights BAAAAD! My daughter talked me out of buy the kit last night, saying my hair was gonna dry up and fall out, :lachen:, I called her a hater cause she's only 10 and can't have them for herself, :lachen:. I know I don't know how long I can keep saying NO my hair needs some spice!

I'm saying NO to color. I used to dye my hair and put all kinds of highlights in it before I got into hair care. A few months before I got into hair care I dyed my hair black because I was tired of the color I had in there and didn't want to wait for it to grow out. Haven't thought about using color since.

I want to try BIGEN oriental black so bad this summer, but I'm scared that it will set me back...................That black glossy color is calling me, it looks so pretty!! The only color I tried was henna & indigo this past june a little while after joining LHCF and I only did it once, because it was so messy. I'll see how long I can hold out:grin:!!

I've never colored my hair, mostly out of fear. I do know what color I would want, although lately, I've been wanting to be a reddish color. Plus I Know that the grow out process can be gruesome, and I don't want to have to deal with that.

No color for me -- the ammonia/peroxide/bleach kind used to lighten hair. I've had it before and it was like it just ate through my hair. I might do a color gloss, the non-ammonia, non-peroxide kind that deposits temporary color and is usually considered non-damaging.

is color the same as a rinse? i do rinses.... jet black.
i would never permanently color my hair.... it's relaxed so ugh. that's just 2x the damage!!

I lost a lot of my hair due to color and its taken me a year to get it back healthy and I am currently a little past shoulder... I and about 40% grey in the front and I am 26 but I have decided to embrace my grey lol

I am...last time I had a colour (auburn highlights) my hair fell out. It was so dry and damaged so that's it for me and colour. I don't even have the urge to now.

I'm too scared to permanently color my hair again :nono: When I want hi-lights then I will use an easily washable SPRAY! :drunk:

ME! I no longer use color (Bigen) because I am tired of the dryness that color causes. I used to use bigen to dye my hair black but now I only use henna and indigo. Besides, I think black hair looks better on me anyway.

girl listen to your daughter!!! when i got highlights, guess what they did?!?!?! they dried up and fell the he!@ out! don't do it!!!!!! get some cute eyeliner or some bangin earrings and leave the hair murdering highlights alone.......

needless to say I am just saying no to color from now on

I LOVE MY HIGHLIGHTS!!!:yep:

I have highlights and I never have problems with dryness because of them. I had problems with dryness due to no-lye perms more than highlights.

For me, I only use Aveda color (done by a professional). I think that makes a difference as Aveda produces good products. I also only highlight no more than twice a year and even then....not really that often.

I always deep condition and seal so moisture is constant for me.

AWWW man, so Bigen is really drying? My dreams have just been crushed!! Every time I see it on somebody its so dark and that nice silky, shiny look, but I don't know if I want to take that chance :nono: I liked the henna & indigo, but that two step process was just a MESS!! I don't know if I could EVER do that again!

no more color for me (i think). my hair is kind of thin and can't really thrive with color, so now I'm growing it out and it is taking forever. I finally used black rinse to make it one color. I think weaving in highlights might be better.

I love color too. I plan on getting highlights when I reach my goal length. I think intial care and application really makes the difference.

Prime reason why I just said to hell with my hilites and chopped the colored ends of my hair off. The color did not damage my hair but it made it look drier and frizzer than the rest of my uncolored hair. I made the decision to chop it off while my hair was still on the short side rather than hack 5 inches off if my hair grew beyond APL. It took about a year to gradually tirm the color away.

The bigen shouldnt have any adverse affects on your hair since you are going darker and not stripping your cuticle away like hi-lites do.

I didn't even think about the colorshowers or shines or whatever they are called! Those aren't permanent, right? If I were to color my hair, it would be with a rinse that would fade away on its own

I just recently got rid of the bright brassy ends that were the remnants of my hair color attempt. It wasn't that the color was so bad it was the condition that my hair was in after. My hair was soft, overprocessed , spongy, and very pourous. I found this forum in my quest to bring my hair back to a healthy state. Right now I'm satisfied to just leave haircolor alone because my hair is much healthier now and I done want to ruin it again.

Exactly! I love my natural black color. Right after the relaxer process, I use a semi-permanent rinse in black to cover my gray hairs, and it lasts until my next touchup (8-9 weeks.) I would NEVER put pernament color on my hair.:nono:

OT: so1913, your twists are GORGEOUS!!!! Please, PM me with your secret!!!!!

On topic: I just say NO to chemical colors, never have been interested...I've got henna on my head right this minute, though! I have about 5 strands of gray, maybe, but they've turned a beautiful copper color with the henna. :yep:

I say no to color cause it's an uphill battle keeping it moisturized and healthy. I say yes to semi permanent color and rinses because I haven't had any bad experiences so far
