Is wondering when i am finding the right shampoo and conditioner what are the signs to let me know if it is right for my hair.

Are you relaxed or natural? What hair type are you? I think you should invest in a good moisturizing shampoo and deep condition such as Creme of Nature. Effective and cheap!:lachen:

I am relaxed I get a relaxer every 4 weeks im trying to learn how to stretch it to maybe 6-8 weeks. I would go and try that cream of nature. Thanks

:welcome2: Vera! I have different shampoos for different reasons...I use Cream of Nature (green label) when I need a moisturizing poo, Nexxus Aloe Rid for clarifying, Motions Neutralizing poo for the first wash after my relaxer (usually 3 days afterward) and for when my hair seems extra porous...it depends on what your purpose for shampooing is. There's a LOT of information available, and you will probably want to become familiar with the search feature near the top of the page.

Here's the thread that shows you how to use the search feature:

Have fun, and welcome to the best haircare forum on the net!!!

From your profile pic looks like your a 4a type? Definitely one of many factors in having healthy hair is stretching relaxers, hopefully more ladies will chme in soon.

welcome to the board!

you should read sistaslick's articles. they have a lot of information.

www.fotki.com/sistaslick, she has lots of articles on picking a shampoo and conditioner , as well relaxing, regimen building, etc.

Hey! I used to get a relaxer every 4 weeks too! But instead of drastically trying to stretch, I'm just going to add an extra week each time...so try 5 weeks this time if u can handle it and ur hair is ok with it try 6 and keep progressing gradually that way you don't drive yourself crazy and end up with breakage because relaxer stretches and your hair don't agree.

Great advice! That's what I did. Baby steps. I had to ease myself into stretching.
As for good poos/cons, I use Elucence Moisture Balance shampoo or Design Essentials Moisture Retention. For clarifying, I use Design Essentials Organic Cleanse shampoo. I don't use shampoo as much as I used to now that I do a lot of conditioner washes, but these are my favs. Some great conditioners are ORS Replenishing (pack or bottle), Aveda Brilliant, Pantene Relaxed & Natural Breakage Defense mask, and any Organix conditioner.

What's up Vera?!? Welcome to LHCF! This is real ghetto, but I know someone very well in the Chi named Vera and I could imagine her using this forum. Please look at the picture in my siggy and let me know if you recognize me. Thanks!

Hey, welcome newbie!

To answer your question, if a conditioner makes your hair really soft, moisturized and easy to detangle, it's a keeper

I have yet to find a good deep conditioner that does this, but CON with the green label shampoo is the bomb! :yep: HHG!
