Hey ladies, okay I've been trying to use the search feature, but it keeps giving me the white screen; so here goes....... I self-relaxed on October 1st with Vitale and came out WAY underprocessed ALL OVER, I mean I'm not even considered texlaxed--and yes its that serious. The relaxer did nothing!!! It didnt even correct the area I was doing a corrective on too, its that bad! I guess the relaxer was old. I can upload pictures if you ladies want to see, and trust me they aint pretty. Two girls that I know told me to wait two weeks and relax again, then one girl told me 3 weeks. Is this ill advised? I mean I feel that if I wait a-whole-nother (not a word I know) 6, 8, or 12 weeks I feel like its going to break off!:pullhair: And everytime I try to straighten it, it reverts back! I'm at a loss. Ladies what should I do?? Please help.

Wait it out. to do another corrective on top of your corrective....:nono: too risky. Roll it taut and keep it moving. The dominicans can lay it for you. Did you self relax?

ITA, i wouldn't do it to my hair:nono:. Just wait it out, there's other alternatives like tenjoy mentioned the dominicans. You probably could get it flat ironed for the meantime or twistout, braidout to hide the underprocessed ng. PLEASE WAIT, SERIOUSLY!

Thank you ladies for your responses, I really wish more would chime in. But anyway, Wheezy and tenjoy I see you both mentioned the Dominicans, I'm scared to get a Dominican blowout, since hair is so weak at the line of demarcation, will it break my hair off??

I have been underprocessed many times this year and it really took its toll.

First things first, increase your moisture conditioning sessions. Underprocessed hair needs moisture. I was deep conditioning nearly 3x a week for my first two weeks after the relaxer that underprocessed me the first time. I would wait as long as you can without risking breakage. For me, it took about a month. Before you relax again, fit in a protein treatment. I did a post on corrective relaxers. You can find the link to it and other corrective relaxer tips in the Self Relaxers Thread that Lady Esquire posted.

Ok I hope I don't get stoned here but if it was me personally I would try and wait 4 weeks and then do another relaxer. Up until I get ready to do that relaxer I would do some serious DC and Moisture and treatments to get my hair in tip top shape. I would not use No HEat, and wash my hair like 2 to 3 times or more a week. Then I would do the relaxer  I don't think putting your hair under stress to wait to get another relaxer is a good idea because you are going to be pulling out all stops to get it straight anyway so go ahead do the corrective or have a friend you trust do it and get your hair right. Please keep us updated on what you decide to do and :bighug:

if its weak at the dem-line, dont get a blow-out. Just roll it tight. Wiat it out girl. It aint worth another corrective. :naughty:

Thank you ladies soooo much for replying, I'm just sooooo sad. Here are the pics, I just decided to share, I'm so embarassed but, oh well. These two pics were taken IMMEDIATELY after my relaxer on the 1st. The pics aren't top notch but I hope you can get an idea from the thick new growth how horrible the relaxer took (and let me add that i left it on for about 30 minutes too!) I only relaxed, neutralized, conditioned and blew my hair dry before taking these pics. (The first is with the flash on and the second one has no flash). You see what I mean when I say the relaxer did nothing and I'm having a hard time. The third pic was taken on Saturday Oct. 13 so that's almost two weeks after the horrible relaxer, my hair is soooooo puffy! :( you can kinda see the area i was trying to do the corrective on, its the coarse looking part in the middle of the strands. Compare it to my avatar, siggy, and all the other pics in my album and you can see that I'm struggling here. Just wanted to share. Anymore help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for what you ladies have said already. :yep:

Kinda in the same boat...my so called "salon professional relaxer":wallbash::giggle: left me a little underprocessed mainly in my crown area. I'd like to hear other recommendations as well.

Honestly, I'd redo it but I don't tend to err on the side of caution too much. I just think that if it is really bothering you that you should go ahead and do it but I'm no relaxer expert in the least. Your new growth looks pretty thick and healthy judging from your pictures. What if you wait a week, get your protein and moisture in, then do it again this time with a more potent brand. Many ladies on the board seem to like ORS lye formula. Wow, it's hard to believe you left it on for thirty minutes.

Girl tell me about it!! I almost cried when I washed it out, and it burned a little too. I could've kicked myself...

I definitely will keep you updated and thanks so much for the hug. :) It makes me feel a little better. I tried to refrain from bothering my LHCF sisters about this for two whole weeks. I'm glad I asked. Thank you.

Thanks gym, I will definitely check out your posts and other threads.

I know it did NOT have the nerve to burn! :look:

LMAO, :lachen: girl yes it did too!! After 30 minutes!! I was relieved to wash it out, then to feel the little ringlets springing to life (trust, they turn back into naps when dry, lol) I felt like :wallbash:. It was like a bad dream, seriously.

A-08, you are too funny. :giggle:

To cheer you up, I had similar situation.... when I checked the date on the box, cause i thought it was a bad perm, I found that I mixed the setting lotion instead of the activator. :look:

BUMP BUMP:bump:

Bumping again. No help, no kind words, no nothing??? Come on ladies I thought this was a community/family.....:ohwell:

I too was underprocessed, my hairdresser was saying it was texlaxed but after seeing it I believe some areas were texlaxed and some were underprocessed so I decided to stick it out and wait the twelve weeks like I normally do. I thought I would have to do it earlier but after starting to do DC on dry hair and oil rinses my hair is doing great and no more breakage(just had a little beakage /shedding due to not using the right products).
I would recommend Aubreys Organics Honesuckle Rose Moisturizing conditioner, It is really keeping my hair moisturized and I would also recommend using coconut oil with your DC and for your oil rinse, this combination has stopped my breakage. Currently I am 6 weeks post and I am hoping to hold out for another 6 weeks.
Also BB moisturizing growth Lotion is doing a great job keeping my hair moisturized and I seal with african angel coconut oil.
Try to avaoid using any heat except when DC and try roller setting. I do everynight and it is helping a lot.

:ohwell: I'm under processed now. Not as much as you are but i have been and a did a corrective in 2 weeks. Nothing bad happened to my hair but I absolutely knew the relaxer did nothing the 1st time so it wasn't like I was double processing. Good luck on whatever you choose and do what's best for your hair. I vote against a blow out and suggest protective styling if you do decide to wait it out (bun, braids, twistouts, weave, etc.) It'll be okay, I promise ((((((hugs))))))).:yep:

What will also help up wait these next four weeks are rollersets. They will help put tension on the underprocessed sections so that they dry straigher. Also try moisturizing those sections separately to make sure they stay soft. Also use a little oil to give you more lubrication when styling. For protein treatments before you relax again try something creamy. Nexxus Keraphix worked well for me during that time.

Bump

Remember ladies, she was already trying to do a corrective on another corrective. (Did I make sense:look:). This will be her third correction. Lets figure out why her relaxers are not taking.

I also forgot to tell you to monitor your porosity during this time. I started using porosity control conditioner before I deep conditioned and it helped decrease tangles and breakage. Since your hair is underprocessed, your cuticle isn't laying flat which is why that hair might feel rough to the touch and look more dull than the rest of your hair. ACV rinses will also help keep your porosity in check. For more on Porosity check out the articles by Sistaslick. She is a member here. Just look in her siggy for the links or Google her name.

I'm underprocessed and in some spots texlaxed...however, it's okay b/c i dc with silcon mix and it worked out. I rollerset and kept it moving. What you need is a dc and lots of moisture. I plan on waiting for another 12wks to relax. Not sure if you have silicon mix but it helps a lot!!!...funny i think we relaxed the same day!

Just wanted to thank everyone that tried to help I really appreciate it. I did however decide to go and get my hair relaxed professionally on 10/25/07, it was breaking like crazy and i couldn't deal anymore. lol I waited 3 weeks and 3 days, my stylist said that was long enough and boy am I glad I did. She got it soooooo straight! :yep:

I severely underprocessed my hair a couple of months ago after a 3 mth stretch taking vitamins and using mtg about every other day. I have 4b hair so u can imagine im sure:evillaugh:. I did a protein treatment ( duotex or Apogee I dont remember) then co washed twice a week and bunned w/ baggie on the ends. After 7 weeks I did another protein treatment and a couple days later permed. My hair was very healthy and the longest its ever been. I guess underprocessing is like an extended (unwanted:wallbash:) stretch so it can b good for ur hair if u play ur cards right.
