Please dont laugh I dont know what to do what would I have to say to convice her that biotin is say?
She doesnt trust anything that to have an effect on you, you will to ingest...basically any tablets becuase she has had bad experiance...

She basically doesn't trust anything that you will have to ingest that will cause abnormal growth I just need some evidence to prove to her that biotin is completely natural. Its because when she was just younger she used a lot of chemicals to help treat her acne and she got some temp. side affects that put her off treatments for hair/skin
I am using BT and she can see that works but she let me buy it because I can use it on the outside of my body but to injest a pill that gets distrubted around the whole of my body and causes growth I just wanna know what else does it do to users? becuase google aint helping
lol brats...:drunk:

Honey if you're that concerned, take your mom along with you to your doctor and ask him/her is it okay for you to take biotin. Maybe she'll feel better hearing it from a doctor that it's okay to take it. I can understand where she's coming from though. My mom doesn't believe in supplements/vits either. She always gets on my case about taking them.

Ok, my mum was just the opposite growing up she'd insist on those multivitamins! ITA with the ladies, go with your mum to a Doctor and let them explain to her (and you) about it.:yep:

Check this out. lots of info here.
Biotin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Biotin is something that our body already produces. Sort of like how we take iron supplements to help maintain/increase the levels of iron our bodies already produces.

One caveat. People will have different reactions to taking larger dosages of biotin.

For instance, many have complained about breakouts. Others have complained about problems with their period. For example, I can only take between 30 and 100 mcg of biotin because any more than that will cause me to have irregular bleeding.

This is a decision you'll ultimately have to make on your own, really. Even after speaking with your doctor and your mother, you may still have reservations.

Mega-doses of any supplements can be either be harmful, or pointless (because it'll pass through your body). But, I think there is no harm with at least taking your daily recommended amount of biotin in the form of a supplement.

Better yet, try eating more biotin-rich foods if your mother truly objects. :yep: Here's an article titled "Biotin-rich Foods Essential for a Healthy Pregnancy": http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=news&dbid=66 . You see, too little biotin may cause birth defects. It's all about balance.

I found a couple of good articles about biotin here: http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/biotin.html

Thanks for this, sweetie! I have to keep reminding myself that Biotin is good for more than just hair thickening and strong nails! :yep:

No problem! :o :D I love to try to be helpful.

Actually, I'm glad I found this information, too, because biotin seems important for women's health issues and the nervous system. I'm also very glad that any biotin not used is always safely excreted.

I understand your mom's concerns but is this formed only by her experience with tablets. I mean, if you have a bad reaction to Advil are your not going to try Tyenol? Everything you ingest, tablet, capsule, bread, sandwich, lemonade etc... will effect your body. Everyone reacts differently to everything, some people can't do dairy..some can. You have to make choices based off what you decide to take on the information you have avaible and how your body feels. Do your own research about the supplements you are interested in. Check with a doctor or nutritionist if you have more questions.

Yes, I didn't know about its effect on "women's issues." I have some of those apparently. I hope biotin is doing good for that. ;)

13-15 what the -excuse my french - no am actually 19 but I know my mum has a lot more experiance than me so...

Sorry if I offended you by asking. I don't think that Bre meant any harm either.

On that note, I think that the ladies in this thread have given provided you with enough links and information to help clarify your decision.

Good luck
