I am loving the Fermodyl revolution. That stuff is no joke 4real!

Picked up my BOGO Free packs today!

Hit: Fantasia Olive Serum is wonderful. It really moisturizes and it great for wet sets

MISS: Elasta QP DPR-11 is turning out to be the WORST conditioner that I have ever used. The first time was just "ehh" so I took some suggestions from the site and added olive oil and honey and left in on under the dryer for 25 minutes. MAJOR tangles, the kind that are so bad you may have to cut some hair!!! I was in the shower for 30 minutes trying to untangle that mess. I tried Tresseme conditioner and that only helped a little. Luckily, I had some conditioner that came with my Natural Instincts box color and that saved the day. That Natural Instincts conditioner is wonderful! Finally, I was able to work the tangles out but I had a lot of hair on the comb afterwards. I am tempted to write to Elasta and ask them why the DPR-11 is so hit or miss but when it misses, it REALLY misses.

Hits: Nexxus Diametress Shampoo, Kukui Nut Oil (mixed w/ cholesterol condish), avocado butter whipped w/ shea and aloe vera gel

Misses: Noodlehead cream :wallbash:

newb to the whole taking care of my hair foreal thing.

Hits: Vitamins and water

Misses: MTG they can have that crap I got 4 oz of sulfer and bases and time on my hands.

Was a hit but now a miss: Sunsilk hydra tlc 24/7 creme. My hair soft at first but after my hair dry a few hours later, it's kind of crispy/strawlike.

Before you completely give up on that product try mixing it with some type of moisterizing conditioner.....my hair was the same kinda crispy with my beloved Garnier Fructis curl n' shine leave in.... adding some moisturizing conditioner made all the difference in the world. :yep:

I also got 4 3packs of Fermodyl. I got 3 of the 619 and 1 of the 233. I mixed 3 619's and 2 233's in a spray bottle. Love those things. They need to sell it by the gallon. Can you imagine how much that would cost?

Girl, I would be so BROKE! Where I am, the package with 3 vials is like $6.79 and that is with the Sally's card discount! I need to stick to the vials because, like Honeydew, I would use way too much. :drunk:

BTW, thanks, Honeydew, for bringing me back to this; I was actually using the 233, but my hair is so much softer with the 619; thanks, girl!

Hit: Hesh Herbals Castor oil- I bought this online and it is a pretty red color, a little sticky but I suspect that castor oil is supposed to be a bit sticky. I have been using this on my ends after rollersetting with good results but I tried it mixed with a little pantene mask today and  my hair feels great :yay: My poor ends feel brand new.

Gurl you better run by Sally's and stock up while they're on sale. BOGO free!! I bought 6 packs today (well, I purchased 3 and got 3 free). They'll be on sale like that for the entire month. I now wait until they have these kinds of deals to buy my Fermodyl. That way, I go and stock up on them. I buy at least 2 packs a week. That should last me for a while.

Hits:

Knotty Boy Dread Shampoo (I don't have locs but this is one bad shampoo)

No Misses

Hit - Putting my moisturizer in the fridge. Hair has been super smooth all week since I started doing this.

Continued Hit - Elasta QP Recovery Oil Moisturizer (mixed w/ a lil Marine Collagen). I gotta keep singing its' praises. Thoroughly impressed with this moisturizer.

Hits: Vatika Creme (HairVeda)- Love this for pre-poo and moisturizing my ends. I was so tempted to taste it :lick: smells like buttercreme frosting.

CoCasta Shikakai Oil (HairVeda)- It's the best of all worlds; Vatika oil, shikakai oil, castor oil, amla oil, henna, lemon, etc...plus it smells good :lick: I use this to seal my ends and apply to scalp with a cotton ball the night before washing.

Toque Magico Emergencia - revisited hit. Light protein. Mixed w/Aguacate cond and sat under dryer for 20 minutes. Softness and no shedding.

Jilbere Porcelain Ceramic Flat Iron (Purple Series)- I haven't used a flat iron in over a year but Friday I used one to straighten my roots after my rollerset and I was really impressed given the price ($37.99). If someone is looking for an inexpensive flat iron, this might be a good one to consider. It has an adjustable thermostat and the outside is fabric covered. This is truly a PJ at its finest. I just bought an FHI but I figured I'd only use that on special occasions! I'll have to do a side by side comparison.

TBD: Sunsilk Anti-Caida and Hydra TLC leave-in. I'll let you know when I try them. They were on sale for $2 so I just grabbed them.

No misses- yet.

VO5 Kiwi & Lime Clarifying poo: I used this diluted mixed with water and I like it. It didn't leave my hair feeling the least bit stripped. Not bad for 77 cents.

Big Miss

Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo & Con and brilliant pomeade

I'm just glad I could take it back (60 bucks!!!!:nono:)

Smooth infusion made my hair feel really coated and too heavy...ugg!! Honestly I don't mind the heavy much since I bun, but it felt really weird. The pomeade smells exactly like Doogrow (feels like it too!) Used it Sunday, got these really funky bumps on the back of my neck took all of it back on Monday....so Imma leave it alone.

Decent sized hit

Garniers Fruictis Sleek and Shine antifrizz serum is nice and light and dosen't look like I used hair grease, unlike the brilliant pomeade. I don't like the smell much, but its tolerable at 6 bucks:lachen:.

No worries! I hit them up once and kinda forgot to mention on here that I slid right back up in there and got 6 more packs. I got 4 of the 619 and 2 more of the 233. I am going again tomorrow :yahoo:

I can't believe that I am just now seeing this thread!

HITS: Vatika Oil and Amla Oil

that Vatika is a great conditioning oil and it softens my newgrowth!

that Amla oil is going to be my new pre-poo treatment!

the benefits of both oils are just adored by my hair.

Misses: none..everything that I use is still working for me:lachen:

:look: How can you have hits and misses for October if October is not here yet? What exactly is a hit and miss? Is a hit a good product and a miss a bad product? This is my first time even attempting to respond because I did not know what it meant (yeah I'm slow...lol).

Girl I never understood why the hits and misses threads always start early. I really think it should be started when that months starts but oh well:)

Girl you must really love this:grin: What does this do? Is this a leave in?

What does the Vatika frosting do for you?

Yes, girl, Honeydew got me hooked on Fermodyl and I've been racking up on it ever since. It helps moisturize my hair and helps my leave ins to absorb better. Think of it as a primer. Something to help facilitate the absorption of moisture.

As for the Vatika Frosting, I have some of that stuff and I love it. I haven't used all mine up yet and I'm getting ready to order a bigger jar of it. It's wonderful as a sealant. It smells yummy (too bad you can't eat it:nono:). I like it so much better than the Dabur Vatika Oil (I just can't adjust my nose to the smell of raw coconut oil) so I use the frosting instead. Try it: you'll love it!!

I'd buy it by the Gallon.

Although I do like the ampoules. Makes it easy for me to get it all over and portion is out right. I know myself - If I put it in a spray bottle, I would use way too much!

Honeydew....man these must be it. I can't imagine you ever not using this.

Are you using this as a pre poo. How do you use this?

thanks

HIT:

Leave-in + Castor Oil for a wash 'n go.

Since the summer, it seems that my hair would be soft and moisturized during the first half of the day, but by mid-late afternoon, my hair would be as dry as the Sahara. Well, I yesterday I co-washed in the shower. When I got out, I put in a leave-in (Paul Mitchell The Conditioner), then I rubbed some Castor Oil in my hands to make it easily spreadable, then I rubbed it into my hair over the leave-in. My hair was super soft after it completely dried. The moisture held up throught the day, until I start again the next day.

So you use the vatika frosting after your moisturizer like an oil-right?
Is the VF creamy?

Hits: Pantene Daily Cream Oil Moisturizer --> I love the way this stuff makes my hair feel. It smells good (a light, fresh scent) and my hair doesn't mind the mineral oil or petrolatum.

Mizani Rose H20 Night Time Treatment --> So far so good with this stuff. I definitely saw a decrease in my breakage while using it.

No it is a pre-leavein/moisturizer for me. I put it on my towel dried hair before putting on my leave-in (which is really a moisturizer for me)

Sometimes, when I use certain conditioners, the Fermodyl does not soak in, as well and drips more. It also does that when I need to clarify. If it drips a lot, I know something is wrong. I stay from all conditioners that coat my hair because my fermodyl does not soak in, as well. I judge conditioners on that actually - if my fermodyl drips to much it is not a keeper.

Revisited HIT:

Carol's Daughter Hair Milk- Great moisturizer on my natural hair. I've been using it on my TWA at night before bed. If I lightly spritz my hair with water first, my hair would feel even softer after applying the Hair Milk.
