Any users? I only used it once as a trial pack and I really liked the way my hair felt. I'm going to have to switch from Paul Mitchell because my hair always feels hard no matter how much or how long (or short) I leave it in--and I follow the directions too!!

I've never used this product, but I'm just dropping a note to say that it's available at Filene's Basement for cheaper than its regular retail price.

Lots of ppl have been posting a/b Joico k-pak lately. I for one am their biggest fan, and have collected the entire K-pak line :yep: (I also have their Moisture Recovery line and products from some others).

I use it [the reconstructor] once or twice per month, and I use it after rinsing out my relaxer, but before neutralizing. It works great both way.

Which Paul Mitchell product are you referring to that leaves your hair hard? That's my other product line, although now b/c of Joico I only use 2 of his products...neither are for strengthening the hair.

Hey Artemis,

nice progress in your siggy. I use Paul Mitchell "The Conditioner" and then he has two reconstructors. Both are part of the Strength line. "Strength Treatment" is stronger shouldn't be used regularly. The other one is the one I recently used ( can't remember the name, don't feel like going to the cabinet:grin:). It says it can be used weekly, but it leaves my hair only slightly less hard feeling than Strength Treatment does.
Just by chance I was able to try out K-Pak. I had heard so much about it on this board that I wanted to try for myself.

So how does your hair react to the Joico line? How does it feel? I was going to try just the reconstructor but now I'm interested in more products.

Let me know!

Thanks lady :D

I use PM The Conditioner and Super-Charged. You couldn't pry them from my dead hands, I love them so much!

I used to use the PM Strength line. It was just ok for me. The Strength Treatment was just as good at the PM Hair Repair so I was confused as to why they made the line. If it makes your hair hard, just follow with a moisturizing conditioner...Anyhoo, I love Joico much more. I think that having human hair keratin protein in every product is what sold me on them, and what keeps me w/them. My fine strands love protein...

Ahem...don't tell anyone I told you this...but I consider Joico K-pak to be my "poor woman's Aveda DR"... :yep::look: Very moisturizing, very strenghtening, all in one shot. I only use the K-pak reconstructor every 2-4 weeks. I also have the leave-in reconstructor if I feel like I may have overmoisturized w/Super-charged (as that can happen w/such an awesome product). Both the K-pak 'poo and conditioner are fairly moisturizing. The daily conditioner is like a 'k-pak lite' but w/moisture added. No hairs in the comb, and none on the floor.

If you go to the joico site, and click on the k-pak line, I have everything except the chelating poo and the hairspray. And I'm starting to get backups, too, lol!

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! This stuff is the bomb. I have been using it for a year or so and my hair loves it.

Aww see now? I gots to get this stuff!:yep:

:lachen::lachen:

I think you are my hair product twin, if not my hair twin!! I have fine strands too. When I saw how well they did with protein I over did it. I'm getting that balance back though.

What you said about Joico using human keratin is interesting. One other reason why I liked it was that it was pH balanced. I mean, they tell you right on the front of the bottle too!!! They don't just say "pH balanced" they put the frickin numbers right there!
I think the reconstructor is between 4.5 and 5.5. I could be wrong, but you would know right? See this is bad. I'm getting paid this week and I haven't been to my "candy shop" yet!!! And I think they have everything Joico under the sun.
Its a shame I don't go shopping with someone. I need someone to hold me back! Seriously though, I don't even think I'm going to finish my paul mitchell. I may save it for after my upcoming relaxer or something. Or I could give it away. I'm seriously getting that recon.

You really hit the nail on the head as far as how Joico makes hair feel. I too remember my hair feeling stronger but still moisturized. I think it's the pH or something. That alone should have let me know it was time to let Paul go. I'm such a loyalist. Paul was right there at the beginnning. I owe my best hair days to him.....OK let me stop!!! I still plan on using "The Conditioner" but this "poor woman" just found her "aveda"!!!!thank you!

Glad I could help

pH of reconstructor: 4.5-5.5 :D You are correct.

Joico wants to tell you how much money they spend on their technology, so when you drop the money for it, you won't be saying "Gee, I hope this works", LMAO. You know it will, and they'll show you the science to back it up, haha. I love that.

I started out w/PM when I was younger (and natural). There was this girl in my class who only used Paul, and I pseudo-stalked her hair and regimen. Once I went natural, it was on!! My hair blinged like nobody's business, but then I realized that I was allergic to Paul's shampoos, and ventured out. But those 2 conditioners, never will they leave my sight. I have a liter of The Conditioner and 2 tubes of Super-Charged right now.

I was going to buy the Joico Intense Hydrator, but I'm honeymooning w/Super-Charged so I'll get around to it sooner or later. I checked the ingredients the other day, and it's definitely got what I need. The Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm was actually too much moisture for me (*did I just say that :look:*) so if I try MR again I will use the lotion (which is as thick as Super-Charged, hehe).

I am in the midst of planning a "PJ yard sale" so that I can have only my fave toys in my stash. I am a Joico pusha, ya heard !!

K pak user here, i used this alot when my hair was more damaged, i used to really rely on it, nowadays i dont torture my hair alot and havent been using much protein but if i do itll be k pak,, actually I do think i still prefer Paul Mitchell Hair Repair treatment to K pak, which i just dicovered recently, i also use other Kpak products like the intense moisturizer or whatver thats called, i love how they explain the science behind it. Oh!! MY MAIN STAPLE( every wash) is by the kpak people, its JOICO MOISTURE RECOVERY, this stuff is MAGIC,, i dont even need the kpak anymore with this, i buy this by the liter!!

I donno...I use kpak every once in a while, but I feel like keraphix makes more of an impression on my hair. My hair is softer and stronger feeling after keraphix. Kpak leaves it feeling like I did a treatment, but it semi-worked, and my hair is dryer afterwards. I think both products also have ceramides.

I guess so, if you can call 8 wks a stretch  Nov 3 is the approximate d-day.

I don't do the 10 week thing anymore. My daily biotin intake won't allow it. :nono:

Really, it leaves your hair dryer afterwards? That's not the case for me. It's funny how different hair can be on different heads!! Sometimes I don't even DC w/a moisturizing conditioner after k-pak. I'll just apply PM The Conditioner and proceed to style.

Also, this reminds me: When I use the big Aphogee one wk post relaxer...after letting it get hard and rinsing, my hair feels soooooo SOFT under the water, like I didn't just put all that hard protein in it. Of course I DC afterwards (I'm no dummy there, lol) but the feeling is so weird. Oh well!!

ETA: Keraphix is a great product too. Ceramides are so nice to help the hair...Joico calls them "glycolipids"...I think maybe the Loreal company patented the word "ceramide"...who knows...

You're right. When I was fully natural, my hair would be soft after having an Aphogee treatment!! The numnber one take home is to try the product out for yourself and if your hair texture changes, the reaction might change as well. Regardless, I'm more than happy that kpak works for you
