Hey ladies! :newbie: here!!! (these smilies are too cute)....I've been trying to find some threads on this but the search feature was acting a lil funkie on me so I thought I'd just ask. I've been airdrying all summer long and it was going well...did the went and wavy thing. But now that school has started it's not really a good look for me going out with a frizzy mess :nono:. I love airdrying and I want to stick with it but I want my straight styles back!! I can rollerset but rollersetting more than once a week is too much with my busy schedule (I cowash every other day). I tried ponytails and wrapping and thats where it ended....Please help!

Thanks!

I've done pincurls on airdried hair and it comes out looking like I used a curling iron. The trick to getting your hair straighter with pincurls is to do less of them. Last time I did them I only put 12 in my hair. My hair had some nice bouncy curls to it. I guess doing less would be less curls and more straightness. That's just what i assume :drunk:

Also, Sometimes I can airdry without doing anything to my hair and it comes out looking like I flatironed it! I think the key to that is major moisturizing. I cowash my hair and add some leave in mixed with some castor oil. Then I put some Bronner Bros. Oil Moisturizer and then seal (especially the ends) with either some more castor oil or extra virgin olive oil. I then just let it airdry and it looks like I flat ironed it for the most part. However, I do relax pretty straight.

The only thing I can think of if you hair is not bone straight already is to rollerset and airdry. It appears that the ladies who have the most success airdrying into straight styles without heat or rollersetting are those who relax their hair bone straight. Hopefully someone else will come along who can help.

I air dry straight... no ponytails or scarves until it's dry. The key for me is combing while my hair is still slightly damp. A lot of people don't like combing air dried hair, but it works for me. I've been using an ionic comb or a mason pearson comb. I add my leave-ins, and then when my hair is at least 70% dry, I gently comb from root (or as close as I can get without damage) to ends. If I don't comb, I end up with waves. Once it's completely dry I use a scarf and/or carusos.

Wow, I learn something new on this site everyday.

I didn't even know it was possible to airdry your hair straight (without "restraining" it with rollers, etc.) I wish my hair could do that! If I don't "restrain" mine, it comes out looking a big, hot, poofy mess!

Same here. I never have any problems combing my hair when it's airdried and when I do, it looks like I've blown my hair dry.

I just found out about the slightly damp thing this weekend.

When my hair was slightly damp I wrapped it. I placed a scarf on top. When I thought it was completely dry I combed it down. I was amazed because I am used to having the puffy hair after air drying :look:.

This is a cool thread. I washed my hair tonight and I'm airdrying in a scarf right now. I'm going to experiment with this combing on damp hair and see how straight my hair gets...

Yup. Most people think I blowdry my hair, but I rarely do. If I let my hair completely dry in a bun/ponytail or with a scarf without combing, then it gets wavy, poofy, and difficult to comb when I finally do try to comb it. I'm only combing every two weeks while I'm on the low manipulation challenge, so I'm dealing with not being able to airdry straight all the time.
