This happens to me every time I relax, but there has got to be a remedy for this. I got a REALLY nice texlax (for a change) after 14 weeks of stretching, and the stylist gave me a beautiful blowout. My hair was so bouncy. A couple of days later, I needed to moisturize so I put in some carrot oil. Needless to say, I have looked like a bald headed chicken ever since:lachen:!

I still have not found a moisturizer that doesn't make my hair greasy looking or weighted down. With my texlax I am afraid to use more liquid based mositurizers because that texture will start coming out. Is ther hope for me ladies? What do you use?
:wallbash:

What moisturizer are you using?

I use NTM leave in cream, and lately I've been using Giovanni direct leave-in, and I seal with coconut oil. The thing with fine hair is that you have to be REALLY light with products.....or else you will end up looking a mess.

You should check out the Fine /Thin Hair Support Sticky. You'll find all kinds of helpful info.

When my hair is down, I like to use Sunsilk Hydra TLC creme and seal with sweet almond oil. They are both very light. My hair gets moisturized but not greasy.

What are you using? How are you applying it? I only put my moisturizer on the ends of my hair. I put a little between my finger tips and then run it through the ends of my hair. That's my focus point when it comes to moisturizing. Then I just run my fingers through my hair. You could be using too much. I use FF glossing cream and never weighs my hair down.

When you say "liquid base" do you mean water based? My tex-lax very fine hair loves water based leave ins like nexxus headdress, giovanni direct, lacio lacio, to name my top 3 faves. Oil based leave ins overwhelms my hair and weighs it down. Also, I do not put leave ins on dry hair, only on freshly wash hair. In between washes, I use water and oil for daily grooming.

I wet palms and smooth on hair, then lightly oil palms and smooth on hair to seal in the water. Somtimes, I mix oil and water on palms and smooth. I repeat as often (or not) as needed. This simple method provides sufficient moisture and shine without overwhelming strands and zero buildup. :yep:

I have also learned (the hard way) to only put moisturizer and oil on the ends of my hair. It makes a huge difference!

That helps a lot ladies. I used Carrot oil because it works so great on wet hair. I think my issue is using anything on dry hair. I just end up looking all greasy. I am going to try the oil and water mixture. I need some recipes though. Any thoughts?

I use just the ors olive oil cream in the jar. I only apply a tiny amount. I rub it in my hands and run it through my hair concentrating on my ends. I use a dime sized amount.

I use plain water and then follow with oil of choice (castor, jojoja, nexxus botanic oil, pretty much any oil I have on hand). Sometimes I mix the oils together, but that's it.
