Does anyone still use Cellophane?

My sister gets this done when she goes to the salon. She told me that she gets so many compliments for men and women whenever she has this on her hair. I hadn't heard of it until she told me about it and now I'm definitely interested in trying it out.

I still use Sebastian Colourshines (aka Sebastian Cellophanes). I've been using it for a long time, so only good things for me.

I have been on the hunt for some. I want Black Orchid. I think I am just going to have to settle and have it done at the salon. I may get Matrix this weekend though.

I just ordered Color Showers in Black (a dominican cellophane) from Roundbrushhair.com (owned by JenniferMD--she's a member here), and I will post a review when I try it out this weekend :) Can't wait!

If you check out Jennifer's fotki, she has some pictures of her hair with the Color Showers cellophane....looks very lovely!

I used cellophane for years before I relocated. I never trusted a stylist out here to do it, and I wasn't interested in trying it myself. I don't remember what brand my former stylist used, but I loved the results of both black & clear cellophanes. I used to get them done after every relaxer.

I use sebastian colourshines in both clear and coffe bean after each relaxer. I like the shine it gives me. The coffee bean makes my hair really dark and shiny! Whereas, the clear makes it shiny.
I also noticed my hair appears thicker after using the colourshines.

I'm just curious how come you didn't trust a stylist to do it? Not that I do, but I'm wondering what your reason is.

I trusted my old stylist, but I don't allow ANY stylist to do any kind of chemical service until he/she can prove his/her abilities. I never found a stylist here that I liked and felt comfortable with so I never bothered. My thinking is that if a stylist can't get a simple shampoo & rollerset right, there's no way they need to be using anything on my hair that would alter its state or color.

I'm picky, I guess...but I have a right to be. :p

Gurl, I understand...me too! With that said Cellophane/Colourshine is not a chemical (just so you know in the future). My reasoning is I'm scared they are going to say they are using one thing and really aren't (Besides I never let anyone do my hair). I used to be a stylist...I can honestly say I never did this, but I know many stylist who did (mainly to save money because "the client didn't know better". I digress.

I know it isn't a chemical, but when not done correctly, cellophanes can cause breakage. And for me, color that isn't applied correctly can be just as awful as a relaxer that isn't applied correctly. The bottom line is nobody comes near my head with anything other than shampoo or conditioner until they can do a stellar job at those two. :look:

OIC! I ain't mad at cha either;)

I use it.
I often use "ginger" which gives my hair an aurburn/honey tint (my hair isn't naturally black though) so it picks up the color easily. I've used clear, but I didn't get any results, I think because my hair just seems resistant to most hair products. To get results I have to use the colored shades.
I would recommend trying them, they aren't chemical, they rinse out after a few shampoos and they don't cause breakage. I actually find it protects my hair because it puts a coating over the hair that seems to lessen the affects of daily abuse.

sleek are you 100 percent natural too?

no worries just asking because of your siggy. i am natural and for some reason my twists do not come out right to my liking so don't feel bad. lol

i am looking forward tp using the rins in the winter to add shine and help protect since i plan to flat iron more once the weather changes.

if sebastian's is being discontinued then what are people moving to?

No, not anymore :( I kinda miss my twists.
My hair is relaxed but it was natural for a long time, I relaxed my hair later than most.

I agree. I use Golden Walnut most of the time by Sebastian. Not sure what I will use once I run out and unable to find any since Sebastian Colourshines are discontinued.

i was pretty lucky because i finally found the black orchid colourshines last week. i love it. before that I used colorshowers and you can get it at roundbrushhair.com.

DC doesn't cause breakage, but it can strip your color faster since it's only temporary. I find that depending on what type of DC I use, when it's time to rinse it out, I'm rinsing away a lot of my color as well. I've never heard of anyone experience breakage using cellophanes. I believe it actually helps the hair stay healthier so you retain length. At least, for me.

B4 Color Showers, I used Sebastian and loved the color and results, just hated the mess I'd get on my clothes sometimes, especially when air-drying. I've been getting cellophanes for about the last 3-4 years and I'm so happy w/my decision.

I have never heard about this...but I am happy cause maybe this can coat my hair and prevent my hair splits from popping off.
Questions:
1. How do I apply this safely..duration
2. How often can I apply this..weekly?
3. Is this like applying protein to the hair?
4. My hair is dark brown...what color for Sebastian Colourshines can I apply?

I believe that the directions for using a rinse with Aphogee are on the Aphogee bottle (but not on the small pack).

thanks! :yep: I found it:

Depositing tint: Wash hair, rinse and towel blot dry. Follow general directions for applying ApHOGEE Treatment. After ApHOGEE is rinsed out, towel dry and apply depositing tint in usual way. Place a plastic cap over hair and check every 2 1/2 minutes. A warm dryer may be used. When tint is complete, shampoo thoroughly from hair. Apply ApHOGEE Moisturizer to help restore natural moisture balance to hair. Rinse and proceed with next service or style as usual.
