I've tried Biotin [the lowest dose] and MSM, and both seem to be taking a toll on my skin [not my face tho] if I don't drink the 6 cups of water daily like I've been doing. Plus, I haven't even seen visible growth, nor is my skin looking any better [worsen from all the bumps & itchiness, if u ask me]! Are there any vitamins that you all have used that didn't require so much water, but still got amazing growth? :ohwell:

I notice that a lot of ladies on here take vitamins individually and I've always wondered why. Have you tried taking a multivitamin? A multivitamin will provide you with the vitamins you want collectively and it will also be accurately balanced doses.

I just take a Multi Vitamin and Calcium Citrate because MSM causes me to break out and I have had clear skin all my life, Im not havin it

try another brand of biotin some brands cause breakouts and some do not also starting out slow not too much too fast. Right now I'm taking Nioxin and no breakouts I'm also taking B- Complex vitamins which includes biotin. No breakouts its been a few weeks and I'm still blemish free the B vitamins are Solary brand. HTH:wacky:

I take ALIVE as well and it's great! Take the multivitamin with your Biotin and B-Complex. You should not experience any side effects or breakouts if you do this and drinks TONS of water. Water is great for you and a natural moisturizer for your hair. Try it and report back.:yep:

Hey E.Williams

How much of each vitamin were you taking? Did you take more than one thing right away. Experimenting with vitamins should be a slow and steady process. You should only add one thing at a time and start of on the slowest dose possible. If you so experience breakouts that dissapate with increase water intake then try cutting the dose in half and keep your water intake high. As far as results, it takes time. Some women here start seeing results in as little a month, while other including myself take longer. I really didn't see a big difference until about 4 months in. After that, my results in terms of hair quality were dramatic. Also keep in mind that what works for some, doesn't work for others. Trust me, I think I am the biggest vitamin junkie here and I can't take everything. Let me know what you were taking and how much. Maybe I can help you.

Thanks for all the responses!!

I was taking GNC Biotin 300mcg--the lowest "mcgs" they had-- [at first 2 tablets a day, then went down to 1 a day]. I did increase my water intake when I went down to 1 tablet a day, but as soon as I skipped a day of drinking tons of water...more itching and breakouts. Sometimes it's hard to guzzle down so much water in one day for me. Then I started taking MSM [1000mcg] a week after trying the Biotin. Just starting this week, I cut out my Biotin all together, and just been taking the MSM. Oh yea, BTW, the brand of the MSM is Paradise Essentials. I bought it at Whole Foods.

Okay, if you wanted to give them another try take just one biotin a day. Keep your water intake high. You probably needed to drink more anyway so this will help you. Biotin for some people does cause breakouts at first but after a week or so they usually start to go away. Many people see improvements in their skin afterwards. Take just one a day. Keep taking one until you see no ill effects on your skin. Then increase just by one tablet every other day. Do this until you see no ill effects then start taking two a day. For the msm, wait atleast a 3-4 weeks before you start taking both together. Some people can start taking alot of stuff with no serious problems, others need to start slow. Start on a low dose and work your way up just like everything else. I am going to bump my vitamin thread for you...it might help answer more of your questions.

bumping...I was taking GNC ultra nourish hair but now my skin is breaking out like crazy and I've never had skin issues...I'm looking for a replacement
