A coworker of mine has about 3 inches of NG and she wants to dread her hair BUT leave the relaxed ends for length. Is it possible to dread relaxed hair and gradually trim off the relaxed ends?
I figure if caucasians can dread their hair why can't relaxed hair be loced too.
Any ideas? I told her I would seek expert advice.
BTW, I was researching dread perms but I'm pretty sure this would lead to double-processed hair. And I remember reading siterlocs can be done on relaxed hair. Any one know of the details of these processes? I haven't been able to get good search results. TIA & HHG

. There are options if she does decide not to cut off her ends. She could her the loctician to backcomb her hair and then loc it (not too successful), or she could get a dread perm. Basically they chemically set your hair unto very tiny rods so that it "looks" natural and then they lock it. A friend of mine had this done, it looked O.K. but it was expensive and also because of the overprocessing it was dry. Now if she decides to cut off the relaxed ends, she could get loc extensions added until she reaches a length she is comfortable with. IMO, I think she should just start from the beginning and enjoy watching her dreads grow. HTH!
