Hello ladies,

Today while setting up my Pibbs dryer, either I was overly excited or just very fatigued. I unscrewed the black plastic dial without reading that the bar springs up! So it sprang up (and scared the beejesus out of me) but now that I'm trying to adjust the height, that smaller pole won't go down at all. Is this not supposed to go down, am I doing something wrong, or did I just break my dryer within 10 minutes of owning it? :nono:

Pls help!

I have the 512 and I'm sure that they have the same pole. I have the pole that springs up also (thank goodness I did read that before assembling it:yep:). It's good you were not hurt by it.

The bar should go back down with very little force--it will have some tension due to the spring underneath but still shouldn't be difficult to push down. Did you release the little 'adjuster' (the little knob that you adjust the height with)? If that doesn't work..I'm not sure what the problem could be. Maybe someone else can chime in. I hope you can repair it without too much trouble (sending it back..etc...that would be a PITA):yep:. Good Luck!

I have the 512 also.. You also have the make sure that your turning the dial on the side of the pool for it to open the hole.. HTH

The bar isn't going back down at ALL, its as if its locked in place. And the worst part is I have that little knob completely unscrewed and laying actually on the floor.

Did you try putting the knob back in and starting over again? Don't panic. You can always call the company like I did for help.

Yes, call the company. I'm sure they can help:yep:. I guess when it popped up it caused the spring to jam or something. I don't know if you know someone who can take it apart.... anyway, give the company a call before attempting that.

I don't have a Pibbs, but your hair looks amazing! :yep:

I don't know if I understand correctly but here goes.

the bottom protion of the pole (with the rollers) does NOT move up and down. The top portion (with the hood) does. I adjust mine by turning the dial to the left and then turning it right to tighten after I get the desired height. I've never taken the dial completely off.

I know, the bottom pole is stationery and the top pole moves up and down. My issue is, that top pole is at its maximum height and won't move down at all. The little knob is turned counter clockwise and it still won't budge. :(

Smcbarnett, did you call the company you ordered it from? It maybe a simple technique to use to get the pole to go back down again.

I gave Pibbs a call and then the company that I ordered it from, they said that I was sent the unadjustable pole by accident and they're gonna send me a new one tomorrow.

It just sucks because I was gonna do my hair on Thursday with it.. I can still use it but I can't adjust it so.. we'll see. But thanks for all of your help ladies!

I am SO happy for you:yay: You will not regret your pruchase:up:

That's great news! Glad your problem was resolved. I know how you feel. I could not wait to use mine either. Hopefully they will ship the correct bar to you quickly.:yep:

I hope so too Energee! Thanks also to curlycraze and nicki for your help. In the mean time I had to wash my hair today and it was either I use the Gold N Hot dryer which is straight GARBAGE or I use my Pibbs at its maximum height and try to find a way to make it work.

I'm under the Pibbs right now, with 5 pillows underneath me and my back is arched. Oh the agony...

...Ouch! I can feel your back pain...Let us know how you like the results. I got my Pibbs 514 several weeks ago, and love it...It's by far the best hair purchase I've made to date.

Yeah I def plan to do some comparison results between this week and last week tallygirl. But if I may ask, what settings in terms of heat do you use with your Pibbs?

Right now I'm at 50-55 degrees and it doesn't feel uncomfortable (i.e., no burning clips or anything). But I've been under here for about an hour. I wanna check to see if my hair is dry but I don't wanna rush it and then have my curls still be damp...

What to do what to do! :ohwell:

Girl, you are a trooper! I use it on 50-55 degrees and usually I'm dry in 30 minutes.

So 50-55 is pretty okay in terms of heat tolerance? I was starting to get worried as to whether or not my hair would be getting fried... Although it shouldnt, when I used to go to the Dominican salon they'd put the Pibbs on the highest temperature! :nono:
